Given the excessively large population of people playing this game who think high dps is more important than everything else, to include dodging, pulling the adds of the healer, etc I can say with absolute certainty that giving people an application that would allow them to see how much dps they're doing would only lead to even more problems with people choosing dps over survival. Honestly, being that I play whm and blm, I can't see what the big deal is about being top dps in the party when it your healers are constantly having to heal you while the rest of the party isn't taking damage from plumes or standing in poison.

On the other hand, it would encourage people with low dps to experiment with their builds in order to increase their output and give them the tools to do so, but there is a high chance they'll be dealing with a lot of heavy criticism in the process unless they do so outside of those dps demanding fights. That'll be fine for people who are good at taking criticism and people who are good at giving criticism without making fools of themselves, but keep an eye out for those players who are not as nice when it comes to criticism and have your mute button ready. I agree with you Ehayte in that you can't blame the stopwatch when the runners want to fight, but you also have to consider that even if those runners scored the exact same time on their lap they're still going to find some reason to fight when they want to. Giving those jerks a tool that allows them to pinpoint individuals will only further encourage them, so it is literally a double edged sword.

Personally, I'm not looking forward to the release of this add on, but I know it's coming. As a healer it means there's going to be a good era in game where my job is going to get harder because people will be so busy staring at their dps meters that they're going to be getting hit more and more often by simple, easily dodged mechanics. If you need proof of that, look at how long it's taken people to learn to dodge plumes in titan because they want to finish their casts, a practice which, unfortunately, does not stop at titan.
