Hmm... I'm trying to place where I've seen all of this rage before...? Oh yeah, these same forums during the issues plaguing Phase 4, EA and Launch.... same errors, same reason, same rage. Yesterday was release day for XIV on Steam for 50% off. This means all the new users who bought it there spent yesterday downloading and patching the game and are now slamming the login servers today.

Ima stay at home mommy with 2 kids and my hubby is in the military. FFXIV is one of those few things that keep me sane and give me my "mommy time" I wish I had a job right about now, I feel like such a nerd waiting on servers to come back up. I guess it doesn't help knowing their going down later tonight anyway but at least we knew about that one. I just get so into what im doing it was like giving a kid a sucker to make them happy then ripping it out of their mouth and trashing it. Made me wanna cry T.T Lol j/k To be honest I dont care how long its down for as long as they fix the problem long (er) term. No point putting a banaid on the problem for a temporary fix if its only gonna keep happening. If people are this upset now I can only imagine the outburst latet if they dont take care of it properly.

Yeah. And I admittedly was mocking some of the people who flipped out. Because contrary to popular belief, Your not going to die if you don't play the game.

I DO understand frustration, I was frustrated myself. But I'm not going to stand here screaming at the top of my lungs being a complete attention whore. So for those who say I don't understand things like this. I do
But I also know that its not the end of the world, and there are other things to do.

I've been running PingPlotter in the background as I've been playing for a while now, makes for a striking image, let me tell you: PingPlotter.jpg

All of the red in that is lost packets. I've only included the graphs with those in them and you can see where the major losses are. It's been like this for well over a month now.

I've spoken to my network admin a few times about level3 routing (we're an internet service provider) and ICMP packet loss doesn't necessarily mean TCP packet loss. Are you able to change the protocol? Their cisco's are configured to drop ICMP at a certain threshold.

TCP packet loss is actually worse... the majority of the chart in this case is red, only my router and modem are clear (hop 1 and 2, which I don't include) and occasionally it hits 'destination address is unreachable'. I'm using the address and port from 'netstat -b' which is 199.91.189.36:54993 so I'm sure it's correct. PingPlotter2.jpg
