I've really been enjoying 2.0, it's a good game that made up for a LOT of the flaws with combat/crafting/gameplay that the original one did wrong.

But there's one thing where 1.0 will absolutely blow 2.0 out of the water, and that's with massive stretched out explorable lands, islands connected through bridges, hidden beaches, impressive tunnel systems and many MANY hidden place that people just love visiting or exploring. The maps were breathtaking, with thousands of tiny little details and interesting sights and just looking around on Youtube for old FFXIV footage fills me with grief a little for what we lost.

Comparingly now all we have is these tiny fragments of land, most of which are nothing more than a linear path with on each side of it's road a few feet of land so you dont just walk across a road with nothing next to it. Two minutes of being in a zone and you've pretty much seen all there's to it. Sure, it looks a little more lively, but it just doesnt compare to the feeling of exploration we once had. Sure, we can jump now, but there's nothing to jump to, jump over or jump from :/ Even towns could have easily been one zone like we had in the past.

I mean, i have 13 Lv.50 jobs now. I've seen pretty much all there is to see in this game already many times over and it's starting to make me realize just how tiny everything is. And i'm sure many people out there are the same. Let me roam the world for hours, exploring every nook and cranny of the world, let me have zones where i can go in all directions instead of basicly following an alley from A to B.

What are the chances we'll ever get similar sized world maps or zones that rival those of the days of 1.0?
