    Maybe it would help a bit to bring back the gathering mini game from 1.0

    Also like to point that people asking for crafted items to be better than Dungeon ones, are idiots, if dungeon items are worse than crafting there is Zero reason to do them & if you need to craft (leveling crafting, gear up, meld e.t.c.) to do end game then the games not worth playing as people generally play mmos just so they can do the fighting aspects. Take that away & give it to crafter who charge to much & everyone has access to rare Bis Powerful items then your not going to have anyone playing.
    Simple solution, put rare mats (5% chance to get it) for highlevel crafting in endgame dungeons.
    Make it that only highlevel gears crafted with these mats would be a bit better (5 ilevel lower, but with the option to put materias in it) than the gears from the endgame dungeon. Then people would still run the dungeon, to get the dungeon gear or the mats for the other gear.

    That creates a progression bottleneck at the cutting edge, and the habits of the cutting edge trickle down to other players.

    Crafted gear should be a way to catch up to the next current tier of content. The main issue is that materia has thrown a wrench into that idea due to how stat caps work per piece of gear. I'm starting to think materia as currently implemented needs a real overhaul, and should be changed from a socket system to something like an armor enchant. At least that way you can continue to keep materia benefits on a leash while not entirely killing crafted gear.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
