Oh, Ok!... Even a newbie like me has some few concerns... And since this thread is for this... I'll put right now the first one I noticed just yesterday:

-Not enough customization for the character and 'forced' to use jobs. -

I have leveled all my Disciple of War classes at least to 20 because my newest character is a ''super warrior kitty'. With that, I have a lot of cross skills that I love to use with all my classes and, to be honest, the use of those cross skills in the first dungeons of the game make me.... Unique, I know how to combine and use them very well, even if my crossbar is stuffed with a lot of things and I'm doing all kind of crazy combinations...Until that point, everything is so fine and happy...

But my archer reached level 30 and with that I unlocked Bard, and that lead me to a SAD TRUTH... You are forced to use your job and to be super similar to the others. I don't like the job because I can't use a lot of my cross skills, but a FC friend told me that these cross skills are useless in the in-game content, that people would kick me if they see I'm an archer, that my stats suffer a debuff being archer...So, basically... No customization of your character at all. Because a job can only have certain crosskilss everyone will have surely the SAME skills, the SAME combos...

So far, that linear customization of character is my only preocupation at the moment...

In short, for me, in my opinion, and maybe also the same opinion that a lot of players here, the Jobs are a FAIL... Only the classes would be ok... Jobs probably, were supposed to give the players more customizable options for their character, but right now they achieved exactly the opposite.

But I have a strange super faith in Square-Enix, and maybe they will solve this ^^ (The cross skills idea was an awesome system they developed after all... Soon or late they will notice that jobs damage this aspect of the game.)

It's nice to have the perspective of someone that is not so experienced. The lack of customization is indeed a shame. I personally went into this game wanting to develop a White Monk or something similar. So I could be on the frontlines doing damage and provide some backup support when necessary. It was something I was really looking forward to.

However, I soon came to the same realization as you did. At the time, I shrugged it off because I was still enjoying the game, but it was a concern that came back to mind once I began losing interest.

Aside from a general lack of content which I can attribute the FFXIV:ARR still being in its infancy:

-Character animations could be much more varied (interesting) then they are now. Miqo'te tails hang limply at all times rather than reacting to combat and such, stances are the same between all races, etc. etc.

-There is no "support" class. Bard is not support. Bard is poor DPS with Ballad.

-Arbitrary caps and content lockouts are severely limiting the amount of time one can spend on the game while making any forward progress. 5/8 members of my static log in once a week.

-There's no variation between players. There's one gear set that's the best gear set and if you're not using that or working towards it you're bad. There's one set of cross-class abilities you either use or you're bad.

-Gear crafting is useless, thus the materia system goes unused. Want us to clear coil for ilvl90 gear? Great! Drop something from each turn I can craft with. Right now I have zero reason to use the materia system between not being able to get materia on anything better than ilvl70 and the arbitrary stat caps.

-I'm not aware of any instance where ranged DPS is a problem, but in T4 and Ruda melee DPS is bad to the point of folks dropping the second they see one - and I can't blame them. I don't want to spend the next hour wiping either.

Some great posted concerns, and I'd have to say.... I agree with virtually every one of them. Really. They are all quite viable from an overall scope, and hopefully, will be given due attention. I am still curious how this game was ever released with some of it's lacking conditions and features. In any case, I don't have any in particular that haven't been mentioned already, but, thumbs up to all mentioned so far. Hopefully results in a better game with something for everyone.

It was released because it was between a rock and a hard place.
Re-development on an MMO is rare like this, so they are left with a choice of releasing it again in a phase that's relatively stable and playable or continue funneling money and losing profits.

    - cross-class abilities are extremely limited

    - no use for experience points once all classes are max level (no "meriting" or currency system, etc.)

    - too much focus on instanced content, not enough open-world content; FATE's are lackluster and their outcomes have little to no impact on the game environment

    - most fights are scripted and/or revolve around unforgiving mechanics where a single mistake can cause a party wipe

    - many 1.0 features such as hamlet defense and chocobo caravans have been inexplicably removed

    - making HQ penta-melded gear is not worth the investment when dungeon gear is almost always better

    - all materia involves stat-stacking; no actual abilities or effects (inflict poison on critical hit, 10% chance next spell costs half MP, etc.); obsolete dungeon gear can't be melded or converted

    - it takes 10 minutes to "quick"-synth a stack of items

    - fishing has become largely useless; spearfishing inexplicably removed from 1.0

    - RMT's and botters are still a major problem

    - seasonal events are lackluster and can usually be completed within an hour or two

    - lol PVP

    - many old items from 1.0 still exist that were not converted (beastmen currency, deaspected crystals, etc.), still no word on what to do with them

    - can't summon chocobo and ride another mount simultaneously; chocobo has poor AI, lack of pet commands; can't use other mounts to fight alongside you; other mounts have no barding

    - still waiting on personal non-FC housing

    - still waiting on pre-made 24-man alliance groups for CT

    - musketeer is still non-existent; no new word on other jobs/classes either

    - lag/latency issues continue to be a problem for many

    - many game features built around "memory issues"

    - voice acting seems incomplete; only used in certain storyline cutscenes
I just want to wholeheartedly and very enthusiastically agree with absolutely everything you posted here.

Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.

I have few complaints about the game but I would like to see crafting become..less useless. I have just started the game and I see so many say crafting is just plain useless for the most part which puts no incentive in me to level them till I have everything else.

Also my BIGGEST gripe. Make being in a party just a little better please? Take WoW for example, you can tell what quests you share with your party, I hate when I am with my friend and he has to read off every quest and what stage he is on just for me to know.

I have something I'd like to see changed. The producers are so single-mindlessly bent on destroying the economy by making crafting and gathering useless. They seem to see the only viable option to kill RMT is to kill crafting and gathering. Which is ludicrous, because RMT will always adapt and find ways to make gil, regardless of what they're forced to do. They're like cockroaches: they can survive a nuclear blast. You can never be 100% rid of them. All SE is succeeding in doing is killing off what should be a key part of their game. It's frustrating. Make crafting worthwhile, already. Get better at banning bots, banning RMT spammers, and stop trying to nuke crafting.

Maybe some people see this thread like a 'bunch of crying babes complaining about everything'.

But in my case I think we are being constructive enough, at least most of us, in what we are corcerned about...Saying that, I hope Square Enix will take this thread seriously, and so, we can improve even more this game we love so much despite the fails it has and can have (We are humans after all, fails are in our nature!)

But... The sparkle of live is to solve fails, and together we can. This thread has my respect!

    Starts thread on "concerns"

    Disclaims its for "constructive" purposes

    Says not to be negative

Bashes all three core mechanics of the game without any constructive criticism of their own....

Do people think they are fooling anyone with these "Disclaimers"?
