So, are you a sock account of the OP? I mean, you haven't touched Gladiator since launch and yet all you have levelled is a 23 Gladiator, no other jobs, crafts, etc.
What exactly have you been doing since launch then?
Starting with un-comboed Halone isnt mandatory, but I can see it helps. Last night i was trying to MT Cad (for the first time), so I used Fight or Flight, Shield Lob, un-comboed Halone, Flash, then start on the Halone Combo. It may not be the best opening sequence, but works for me. The same when I OF ADS before Cad. Shield Lob, un-comboed Halone, Flash, then combo Halone. It works for me. But spamming un-comboed Halone? Thats a no-no. =PHalone has a 5x modifier (7.5x with Shield Oath up). An un-comboed Halone creates 100x7.5=750 enmity. Shield Lob creates 120x4.5=540 enmity. If FoF is popped, both values increase by 30% to 975 enmity and 702 enmity respectively. As far as I'm concerned, I always pull with Tomahawk/Shield Lob. By the time I actually get to the mob after the Tomahawk/Shield Lob, I am ready to start my BB/RoH combo. It also lets me get at least one shot in before the derpy bards start with their front loaded damage. Before the 2.1 enmity buff, I would Tomahawk >> BB >> BB combo when I had those derpy bards. Now I can just Tomahawk >> BB combo no matter how trigger happy the dps is.
(I think with the 2.1 enmity buff, Shield Oath/Defiance now provide a 2x modifier instead of 1.5x modifier. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.)
Flash still has a lower enmity modifier than un-comboed Halone. And juniglee was asking me because I said in an earlier post that sometimes I like to start with un-comboed Halone just for a good initial enmity.This. There are two basic ways I like to pull. Shield Lob->Circle of Scorn or Spirits Within->Fast Blade and Flash->Circle of Scorn->Flash (guess which one is used for which situation?). I have never just run in and thrown Halone.
For adds, I try to have Halone comboed and ready to go. I believe Flash actually has the same or slightly higher enmity potency with the trait than uncomboed Halone if you lose the combo.

Flash is 495 potency, uncombo'ed Halone is 500... difference = about 1%
Flash adds blind though : D
Most of your post is troll bait, and I've clarified much of the other statements like "you want tanks to do more damage than DPS" stuff in prior responses (short answer, no, they just need to do MORE damage so I don't feel like my purpose is to be a punching bag that doesn't fight back. There is such a disparity between the DPS of other classes and tanks, which is all the more frustrating when many of the DPS players in a Duty Finder group suck terribly and cause wipes. If I'm off-tank in Titan HM, my efforts to do things like break a rock in Titan HM may as well not exist at all. I can dodge every dodgable attack Titan throws and we'll still wipe if nobody breaks the rocks, and even if I am trying the effort is in vain due to the poor design of the class. Especially frustrating because a single DPSer can break the rocks by themselves).
But to respond to the above section; you are combining two different statements together to make them seem contradictory.
1. At the start, I said I do not want to play a character that feels like a World of Warcraft character in the way the tank is designed. I said this because tanks do not have many iconic abilities common to Final Fantasy melee characters, and they play nothing like these past protagonists and much of the gameplay is adopted from how tanks play in games like WoW, EQ and so forth. My character doesn't even have a personal limit breaks, which nearly every FF game protagonist has had since 6. And the limit break we tanks do have, nobody wants us to use it outside one single instance which we won't be able to enter until we're in at least full i70 gear.
2. When talking about how increasing DPS for tanks would not break the game, I referred to World of Warcraft and how the tank population increased after Blizzard buffed tank DPS. That isn't saying "make the game like WoW", it is showing that you can buff DPS and not cause the game to be broken.
You can claim "Cecil is in a different game" but yet we have Magitek armor from FF6, the Crystal Tower from FF2, armor from FF1 and so on. All the magic classes have spells that follow naming conventions for the North American localizations of FF1, 4 and 6. Dragoons have iconic jump abilities, there are limit breaks that call meteors and Cloud's Buster Sword. The list goes on and on.
Don't tell me it's wrong to ask for my class to be a little bit more Final Fantasy when every other class gets a bunch of nods from past games.
And once again, getting better gear is not going to change anything that frustrates me or others about being a tank. Things like Shield Bash will still be on GCD, making it hard to cast it as an interrupt because the GCD is longer than enemy casting times. And all these complaints will continue to be shared by others who try to level the class and find frustration.

In Reply to Grizzlebrd-The character you see is not the character I play full time, Ghengiz is or was a temporary account after troubles with my original Email add for my lvl 50 pld accnt, and as far as a forum goes I favor Ghengizz's makeup better-
Pop medica II on the party before next phase in turn 4...
mele or mage pop cool down while tank is in process of pulling twintania in turn 5... (Before his first flash..)
Mage cast Regen on tank before every pull in dungeon.
SMN using Bane on fresh pull without explaining to the tank that he will pull massive hate.
Then you have those same idiot saying:
- WTF Tank, why you can't hold hate.
- Why are you so trash.
- I never saw a ghetto Tank like that before!
Another popular issue:
Q: Why did you die PLD/WAR?
A: because our healer SUX A$$ man.
Who say that kind of horrible thing? NOT ME, not my style and it NEVER going to be my style. but then, since i (and majority of Tank) don't put the blame on healer, they instant jump the gun on the Tank.
That the reason no one want to play Tank class. This is slowly changing as those same douchebag started to play Tank class lately, and they jump the gun on healer now, didn't you guy notice the lack of healer recently?
Anyway, not my problem anymore, my WAR and PLD is retired, BRD onry, easy to play, mindless, and 0 stress since i am perfect to dodge everything, no more need to worry to be cured. (The true paradise). GL to any future Tank class.
Tank FIX #1: give them the ability to cure theyself so they don't rely on healer anymore.
Roulette was the worst thing the could have done to new tanks. Nothing makes tanking more frustrating then being completely out geared and that is roulette in a nutshell most of the time lol.
Problem with tanking is the class is easy to play the role is hard and stressful. With dps the difficulty comes with the class and there is no stress. IDK about healer... seems easy enough couldnt really be bothered to level it, only became irritating when tank failed. So in a game, for fun, ppl will never gravitate to the role that is stressful. Those of us that like tanking dont really have a reason to tank. I mean i tank coil and sometimes the ex once a week and thats it. SE really screwed up when they made groups of base 4. There will always be a shortage of roles that require responsibility in every mmo so the idea is to make it proportional. If they had made it groups of 5 then 50% more dps would get in per run which would make queue times so much better. But they didnt so blm/brd/smn get to enjoy the 30min wait timer.
Combine that with the fact that they are making each new coil set completely out ilvl the old means that in 2.2 is going to go back to being like 2.0. so the problem with keep perpetuating itself. Being that most people that main a tank and are decent can find a group and have no real reason to revisit old content.

I love the idea of giving more of an iconic final fantasy feel to tanks. I miss some of those old feelings i would get as a kid feeling epic with my new bad a** ability. I remember the feeling of seeing beatrix in action for the first time in ff9.. all of those awesome abilities.. then discovering steiner can unlock these as well. The tank abilities should be low on dps. But it shouldnt feel lackluster.
