    Revive the economy with FFXIV Upgrade Coil to DynaCoilTower Lv2

    The reason why FFXI economy survived through the entire game is that they enabled the pairing of craft + drop items to create the best in slot.

    If instead of enemies in coil dropping 50gil they make it drop (rarely) crafting materials that paired with the items to 'polish' them back to full condition ilv95.

    They do this for Relic+1 weapons and they can do the same for coil armor.. Buff it to lv95 when used 12 ingots crafted from TIV/TV nodes and dropped materials from Coil.

    Instantly gil would circulate and people without it could start to get 1 drop a week or more and snag some for themselves.

    The drop system as it is now just hands everything to you on a silver platter.
    Can even implement a cost involved in currency to further the trade.

    As well as this coupled with the market taxes the flow of gils would be revived.

    Of course the DynaCoilTower Lv2 would need to be longer then a 5 min romp stomp and more like CT.

    As proven to work as this is, they didn't want any items in the game being barried by a grind. The ARR development team is very against XI's style of longevity because that type of market is considerably smaller for an MMO's fanbase nowadays which is why you don't see any of the following in ARR.
    (I'm not saying there isn't an FFXI fan base, just that the larger market is elsewhere)

    "Collect, 50,000 of these coins for the base!"
    "Collect 100,000 of these other types of coins to finalise the weapon!"


    1.0 did a similar thing with Hamlet seals, Beastmen spiritbonding and Primals and people loathed it for the drop-rates and the sheer amount of time it took to get it done.


    As for the crafting side of things, they royally shafted crafters, you're complete correct. It's a real real shame too seeing as the crafting in this game has a lot of thought and effort put into it.
    Hopefully in the future it's considerably more useful than they are now.

    FFXI survives now on a small number of players happy to play a game with ancient game mechanics that few new players these days will tolerate. It's of its time, and that time's long gone for new entrants, thank God.

    What they can do for the next tier of crafted gear is make the recipes so difficult to complete that High Quality versions of the crafts become rare, rather than the norm as today.
    Base materials needed should be "unique" so that one person can only carry one at a time. And should apply over retainers as well, so that even if you put it on a retainer you can't collect more. FC chest should correspondingly only be able to hold one.
    Extra materials needed should be buyable with myth tomes.
