    DL vs CT question.

Hello all. SMN is my main and that's getting all my af2 when I get tomes so whenever I run CT that goes to my PLD. When my SMN hit 50 I already had a DPS and Healer role so I wanted a tank at 50 so I can be a triple threat :P Don't let my thread title fool you. I know it's obvious that CT armor is better than DL. My problem is Sat I got the PLD boots from CT and today when the week reset I got the body armor. I have 2 CT armors that I'm not sure I can wear because the DL gear is one of those 2 piece sets. The body is also the helmet and the pants are also the boots. I still have some of my lord and hoplite gear lying around. Is it better for me to downgrade one section of armor to upgrade the other or am I going to have to wait till I get more CT gear or af2?

Well, in terms if ilvl it's the same. One part upgraded from 70 to 80, one part down from 70 to 60. Main stats (STR and VIT) should total up, but of course secondary stats will be different.

Nonetheless it shouldn't really matter for secondary stats. I would personally go for it because CT body + CT boots looks definitely WAYYYY better than the fugly DL..

I would go with whatever raises your primary stats. Unless you are going to coil with it, then make sure your accuracy is good as well.

If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die... I must simply laugh

    In terms of raw stats: [i80 legs/body (CT) + i60 feet/head (Lord's/Hoplite)] > [i70 legs+feet/body+head (DL)] > [i60 legs/body (Lord's/Hoplite) + i80 feet/head (CT)].

If you go for full CT gear, you will lack a lot of accuracy for coil. Best to do is mix both sets and never go under 470 (you will have some miss but nothing serious).

I don't do coil much because of my shifting work schedule and when I do I bring my smn. It has better gear and my fc already has some good tanks. I just use pld for faster duty finding when I do roulettes or ct. I do agree the dl armor does look kind of ugly. I don't use my pally for anything that gives it acc problems so I guess I can go switch things out.

If you want anything else than look on your tank, avoid CT gear at all cost. it's total garbage and should be banned from every challenging end game tank gear. DL gear was sufficient for month. there is no need to take CT if you intend to tank at high level

Not sure I understand this. Why avoid CT gear?

Probably because only one piece of it has accuracy. Still, that doesn't mean it's not viable, but you do need to be mindful of it (if you use full CT gear, you won't reach the accuracy threshold for Coil).

as said above, because this set is afwully akward for accuracy, and thus is terrible for the coil. You'll miss like 30% of the time on T1, the easiest, and this often results in a wipe. T2 will be your limit with CT gear.

CT gear seems ok for EX primals though, but I have no accurate datas for that as I already hit the coil cap
