Why botting is stupid(IMO)

First and foremost, im fairly certains its a violation of the TOS(correct me if i am wrong).

So, what the appeal of paying for your game, paying your monthly scrip. fee(i know its F2P now, but not forever), and then paying for a bot service.

Doesnt that take the fun out of the game? You really cant invest your own time into the product you paid for? Using real money to get "fake" money is one thing(i also find this offensive, but i can understand the want for sweet gear), but paying to have your character leveled is just plain dumb.

I doubt we will get any responses from people who actually bot, but ive heard people talk about it in game, and im just like WTF mate, you suck, GTFO.

Its about people getting ahead. Bots usually do things that people don't want to do themselves... so its doing the work while you get the reward.

Most people in this world care more about the end result than appreciating that for the journey it took to get you there.

Because some people only want to play at the high level and hate the thought of leveling up. Not everyone is looking for the exact same experience out of a game.

So people buy this game...a Final Fantasy game, not wanting to experience the adventure? Go play Call of Duty or Angry Birds then. The point of a MMO is to go in there, meet some peeps, kick some arse, and call it a day. Not come home to see how many levels you went up while you were at school or work.

Sigh, i had a discussion like this on the STEAM forums regarding using scripts in FPS games. Unfortunately theres no changing the minds of those people who are hell bent on getting reward, without the sacrifice, so i wont continue to debate the fact that i think botting is ridiculous, and i hope SE does something about it.

If you dont have the time to be bothered by actually playing a game, why bother buying it.

Also i have to admit my opinion is rather biased, as i didnt buy the game during release, because lets be real here...no game nowadays is worth its price at release. But $29.99 and F2P...damn right im gonna play it AND ENJOY IT.

Seriously botters. Hop in game. Check out the stuff. Walk around aimlessly. Craft Hempen Yarn a gazillion times. Its all the rage. Im also pretty sure you cant bot your real life, so you may want to practice patience and determination in a digital medium, or else the world may just chew you up and spit ya out

Bots give the player an instant advantage.

Sure you could spend 6hrs a day for 2 weeks to make that 20million to buy that +3 endgame piece you want. Or you can go to work have a bot go for you and come home and play the game how you want to instead of farming.

Is it right.. NO, but it is why people do it. The bad thing is it seems the bot devs are always 1 step ahead of SE on detection, so there is not a way to really stop them since they need "Proof" they are botting.

The only agrument against what you said is with DOH. I stopped grinding my Goldsmith a month ago @ 40 because the Local Leves suck and after 40 its bascially 8 hours of non stop grinding (vendor trash mostly) to get anywhere.

Sad thing is to watch all the people who botted to 50 selling stuff for millions every day.

If SE made high level crafting at least interesting then id be happy to pick up the hammer again, at this time though its a total chore and i'd rather just keep fighting or start up a DOL.

It's fairly bad these days. I don't know about people on other servers but there are people just crafting in particular linkshells on my server that craft for hours on end without stopping and if you try to speak to them in /say, /tell, or even emote at them they do not respond. What is sad is that some of these people I knew while getting into the game. They speak the same language as me. We've held conversations before. And now they ignore everyone while they 'craft.' It's very sad and it bothers me that some people have no gaming morals and that SE doesn't even have a way to report the possibility of someone botting yet. I know no one is paying for the game now but it's really discouraging to players to see this occurring and so early in it's life. And after all the updates that makes crafting so much easier now, it's hard to believe people bot. It just ruins the experience for other people who don't choose such a path. I really wish that gear was signed by those who make it so I can avoid buying from the people I don't feel I can trust.

Crafting and gathering may be easy, but they are still annoying and a huge time sink. This is why people bot in FFXIV and FFXI.

For shooters...people bot because they have self esteem issues.
