It's a fatuous argument Yoshi is using, echoed my many ignorant players.

Fact is, prices on Legacy servers are LOWER for stuff like Relic base items, crafting stuff, etc. than on non-Legacy servers so there's no valid economic reason for this restriction any more and hasn't been for some time.

Legacy servers are populated with folk who played pre-ARR 1.0 FFXIV. It was ridiculously easy to get MASS AMOUNTS of Gil during end-game through leve abuse amongst other things. Enough to where Yoshi had to reduce peoples Gil down to 10% of what they originally had (we're talking billions) for the launch of ARR.

So while YOU may only have 30k, other Legacy players can easily have hundreds of millions of Gil. This explains the disparity in housing prices between servers. Allowing them to transfer would be a huge headache. Example: If they were allowed to transfer to one of the "low-tier" servers where houses only cost 6mil, they could easily buy up all the plots as just one example.

You do realize there is a 3 million cap when you transfer servers right?...

I've been playing since 1.0, and I don't have millions of server breaking Gil either... I don't even have 1 million; so all this talk of breaking the economy by allowing Legacy players to transfer to Non-Legacy servers is nothing but a load of bull.

This is silly. Our gil was reduced coming into 2.x from 1.x - this is the argument made by people who don't even know what they're talking about.

Legacy servers have a number of economic problems that are facilitated by people hoarding these "hundreds of million of gil" you're talking about, so all that money is exiting the economy, and has been aimed at that for some time. As a result, money is leaving the economy at an accelerated rate, or is at least not being spent in the economy, creating a problem of cash flow.
