Coil Turn 1 with lighter DPS

I could not find this question/answer elsewhere. And I know this is way past coil release.

I am newer to a raid group for coil. As is most everyone in the group.

With a lower DPS, thus the snakes able to build up stacks higher, is it viable to do at least 1 feeding to each snake?

It would seem smart, especially if iLevel average is about 76 of everyone. Once DPS hits iLevel average of 80, it won't be an issue, but for now it seems to be a smart move so healers are not eventually spamming Cure II just to keep the tanks alive (with regen ticking too).

    Thoughts?

And to clarify (can't edit on phone), I meant is it viable to feed at each snake one more time after to the split. We definitely feed before the split.

When we 1st did this fight we fed 3 pre split then IIRC 2 to each snake after the split.

Now we just feed 2 pre split then say hell with it.

we used myself (monk) and our drg to feed (xclass all the tanky abilities) just poped them all each ooze.. + 2nd wind to keep healers from having to worry about us.

    Total breakdown was...

1st spawn = OT and 1 feeder spawn oozes; feeder brings his in asap OT holds until 2nd stack
2nd spawn = other feeder grabs and feeds asap
    **SPLIT**
after the split we just fed as soon as our CDs were back up and we were able. Each of us fed twice (I believe) before the fight was over due to waiting on CDs.

If you can coordinate it, it is certainly viable but I think at this point most players will be geared enough to not need it.

Our group early on just ended up not feeding after the split. It is a bit more chaotic and feeding them at that point is a balancing act between DPS'ing the boss and damaging the slimes enough so that feeding doesn't undo all the damage you've done. I believe the boss does have an enrage timer too so you can't drag the fight out indefinitely.

In all honesty i76 is probably well geared enough to ignore feeding after the split, just make sure you have 0-1 stacks going into it. I'm sure my group was around that iLevel if not lower when we started coil as CT gear wasn't around then. Your DPS just probably needs more practice at efficiently pushing their DPS and triggering+avoiding the tail swipes to relieve pressure on the tanks and healers, or they possibly need better Accuracy.

As Estellios said, making sure the snakes have no more than 1 stack of the buff after the split is key if you have lower dps and don't want to use slimes. When I was first doing Coil we'd typically have a couple DPS feed slimes twice then focus on the boss for the rest of the fight, so that may be something you can try as well.

Thanks to both of you. That may have been a factor - 1 stack about to hit 2 right at split. It became promenantly noticeable in damage increase from the 4th stack. Just have DPS fast enough and time it to split right after the second feed. Right? That seems it should handle the problem.

Yeah, you should be reaching the split right after the 2nd feeding. It can be done just by having your DPS adjust how many cooldowns they use depending on if you are too fast or too slow.

As you get geared up you will eventually be able to do it with 0-1 feedings. It's just a matter of getting a feel for when you push it to split.

4th stack is when your tanks should start rotating cooldowns. A friend of mine actually made a Caduceus video recently so maybe it will help you out: http://youtu.be/8PCrnd5ZGpY

We have done it on a slightly lower iLvl with 3 Bards and one Dragoon without feeding the snake after the split. The "missing" dps, from the BLM we normally have wth us, was noticable but we did it.
We normally tank the initial snake right on spot and pull her after the split away so that only one- two tiles are between em. Range and heal place itself on the tiles between, so damage can be adjusted and heals can be crossed if needed.

    I like Random-Number-Generator
'cause I'm able to accept that
a dice normally has six sides
    a pyramid has 5 sides
    a toast has 2 sides
AND I CAN'T PREDICT WHICH SIDES IT FALLS TO.
