30 min abandonment PF timer needs reworking.

I want to start off by stating that I understand why the 30 minute timer is there. I do. But, having said that, it needs to be reworked.

Far too often, I'm in a group that simply cannot accomplish the task at hand, and no amount of coordination or beating my head against a wall is going to urge us through to completion. Sometimes a group simply cannot get it together. Like, just tonight, I was in a WP (yes, WP -- terribly arduous content, I know!) run that wiped three times before we even reached the first boss. The tank was overpulling, wasn't throwing up marks, and when I marked targets people ignored them. It was a bad group.

Problem is, while the vote abandon button might be there, it just takes one stubborn mule to force you to stay. And then you're stuck with the choice of sitting on your hands for thirty minutes, or chewing on wipe after wipe due to incompetence. Yay! And you see it time and time and time again... multiple people or individuals have no clue (or are drunk, or high, or both), can't wrap their brains around a mechanic, and the group dies.

Thirty minutes after the first WP I was at it again. Another bad group, but we stumble to the second boss, only to have the dragoon refuse to target swap to the adds. No amount of coaxing seems to motivate her in the right direction. And, in fact, after the second wipe, she begins to blame myself and the tank for 'not dealing with the smaller slimes' as if every time they spawned I didn't instantly have agro from all three or four.

So, what to do? Well, I can either smash my gear in a game where money is more precious than blood, initiate a vote abandon, or quit. What a shock, vote abandon fails, so here I am, wearing a 30 minute scarlet letter again.

I know that the half hour timer is to prevent whim quitting -- I do. But once a group wipes 3-4 times, nobody should feel obliged to stay. Some groups just aren't going to clear the content -- even absurdly easy content. And, in that case, we should be able to end the instance without having to take a break from playing.

(PS -- why are messages limited to 1000 characters? Design a real forum, please).

Players have been disconnecting I notice to get out of timer penalty. I don't do it but I see it all the time in Extreme primals.

1) You can bypass Text Limit by EDITING a post.
2) Vote Abandon on a 4 man requires 2 PEOPLE voting NO, not 1 for it to fail.
3) At that point you should have just AFKed for 10 minutes and gotten kicked from the instance without having a penalty.
4) If you have a party of the proper size (4 or 8) you can queue for those duties (that you have a full premade for) even while still under the Abandonment Penalty.
5) While in AP, you can still start a Party Finder to make a party for runs.

All you can do is try and talk them through it...that sucks...I have only had that bad an issue once or twice tops...

How about no? If you absolutely do not want to stay, eat the penalty or ask them to kick you (Most people will gladly oblige). No reason for the whole party to disband just because some people are impatient.

Did you have a scholar healer for the second run?
Because if it was a white mage, he/she/it should do 2-3 Holy when the smaller slimes appear to help take care of those. Not sure how groups with scholar usually handle it.

How is wanting to disband a group because they keep wiping on content equate to being impatient?

working as intended just eat the timer everyone else wanted to keep going the only one with a problem seems to have been you. it's the same way if that 1-2 people (depending on if its 4 man or 8 man content) wanted to keep trying but everyone else said yes to it and the 1-2 wanted to keep going got mad because everyone else gave up. it happens i like how it is.

remember just because you feel if people wipe a couple times you should quit and give up doesn't mean everyone should feel the same opinions are not fact.
