Any word on if/when we will be able to respec our Chocobo companion?

Given how ridiculously long it takes them to level, I hope it doesn't RESET them to rank 1. I already have every class at 50, so the only really viable camp for leveling it is at Urth's Fount in South Shroud with 3 other people + their companions. Average about 1300xp per pull of all the elementals and need 490k to go from rank 6 to rank 7...this takes a long time

This was actually meant to be done a while ago, not sure why it hasn't been added as an option yet.

I really want to respec my chocobo so I can get the bardings. >< I have points in different places right now because someone told me at some point that that was what I should be doing. Until I can respec my choco, I have no access to the bardings. I really hope we'll be able to respec our chocos soon.

Meh I hardly ever use the bird anyway. If I want a job with a Pet I can heal and solo with, I switch to Smn, the bird is a below average tank at best, and its heals are nothing that could save me if I do something stupid anyway.

If you look at the last couple of abilities on each branch, you're almost better...at least with the attacker and tank paths...to skip the last two and feed points into another path. Your friend wasn't wrong. Just if you do that you don't get the bardings lol Penalty for trying to min/max your bird. Kind of silly. Hopefully they put in the reset item in 2.2.

Yeah, I'm really wanting the SP reset for chocobo barding as well. The reset item doesn't have to reset the rank, it just needs to reset the skill points and they could make it cost like 10k GC seals or something. Even with the reset I don't think you could get all 3 bardings from each class, the barding seems to only be accessible for the class you currently have at rank 10 as the other bardings in the game are items you use that unlock them permanently.

Still need an update for this, I was told that they were adding the respec item as a GC award similar to the attribute reset item. I recently leveled my chocobo to rank 10 several weeks ago but fortunately due to my early noob days I wasn't aware that you couldn't respec them let alone be awarded a barding for reaching rank 10 with all points placed into that class.

No, they legitimately were going to allow us to take in a chocobo to replace a player in the duty finder.

Sadly I can't seem to find any new information on this at all, it was around the time of release, Alpha and Beta stages that it was mentioned then once the game was released it was only mentioned briefly in the live letters.


Chocobo Breeding, Re-speccing, Dungeon Foraying should hopefully all come in one big update as they were all things they wanted to implement.

This is what they originally had planned for chocobo's leading up to 2.0. The list includes chocobo dungeons, chocobo leve quests, chocobo breeding, chocobo digging, chocobo caravans, chocobo Gold Saucer racing, chocobo respec, Fat Chocobo Mount, Fat Chocobo Primal fight, etc. It's extremely detailed and worth the read.
