I started a thread in JP side about this and quoted you and your link inside so the dev/reps can see it over there with all our detailsIn FFXI, we could choose our LS color by using sliders, rather than selecting from a list of pre-set color combinations. I think it would be absolutely awesome if FFXIV did the same thing.
I even used Photoshop to create a mockup image of what the color selection GUI could possibly look like:

Please pass this image along to the dev-team if you can. ^_^
Also, give them my apologies that all the text in the image is in English. I don't know Japanese (very well), so it might be kind of difficult for a Japanese person to understand what each part of the image means.
(Though if someone is willing to translate the text into Japanese for me, I could create another version of the image with Japanese text.)![]()

I doubt the whole LS would get banned. GMs would probably have to approve the pic before allowing them to have it as their crest, and if it's inappropriate the GM would just deny it and the LS would have to submit a new pic. That's what I would see happening.
Although it'd be funny to see a thread on here saying "ZOMG my whole LS just got banned ; ;" lol

Yeah, and then we'd have to wait weeks for the approval process, not to mention GMs would be bogged down with having to look at thousands of player-submitted crest icons every day, thus taking away time and resources from other GM duties...
Maybe SE could create a special A.I. filtering program that automatically detected boobies?

You don't need that. Uploading something that's offensive would simply result in a 3 day/1 week/permanent ban from the game for the player who uploaded it for first/second/third offense.. Problem solved.Yeah, and then we'd have to wait weeks for the approval process, not to mention GMs would be bogged down with having to look at thousands of player-submitted crest icons every day, thus taking away time and resources from other GM duties...

It hasn't been a problem in Aion as far as I know.

Hmmm, I suppose the threat of a perma-ban could certainly be an effective deterrent against uploading an offensive image.
It's definitely a much simpler solution to the problem than my idea! ^_^;

you know what would be awesome if they did give more variations + color options... being able to add the crest to your gear (if you switch LS changes crest also) Shield with our LS crest, Robe with your LS Crest in the back... would be cool imo (of course with visibility on/off for those that don't like it...)

Yes to this! Being able to embed your crest in gear would be awesome and add a additional level of customization that I never even considered. I'd like it even better if they'd give us a bunch of premade clipart — reflecting the things you've accomplished in the game — that we could select and drag around to make an even more detailed and customizable crest.you know what would be awesome if they did give more variations + color options... being able to add the crest to your gear (if you switch LS changes crest also) Shield with our LS crest, Robe with your LS Crest in the back... would be cool imo (of course with visibility on/off for those that don't like it...)

ive said this too about the crest on gear, that i want it on my shield. i also would like to have a banner on my chocoboyou know what would be awesome if they did give more variations + color options... being able to add the crest to your gear (if you switch LS changes crest also) Shield with our LS crest, Robe with your LS Crest in the back... would be cool imo (of course with visibility on/off for those that don't like it...)

I actually like how two-dimensional the crests are. They are easy to distinct from afar. So basically, I'm opposing the idea of having something too 3D and embossed/glossy that's hard to read. On the other hand, the choice of crests we have now is awful (except for a few decent symmetric ones that we have), as well as the choice of colours which is horrid (and I'm specifically referring to the yellow+[insert colour] combo).
Glad to hear the devs are looking into it, I'm just stressing about whether they'll do it right.
I apologise if someone else mentioned this, but here goes....
Somehow the least painful option, from my point of view would be to have a crest base (like the shield we have now), of customizable colour (more colour options than now), and a huge mass of patterns (for background) and stamps that go over those that we can mix and make our crests more unique.
To break it down:
1. crest base (shield base and/or something else - customize colour)
2. background/1st stamp (goes over base, simplistic larger pattern)
3. 2nd stamp (goes on top, could be various icons: crown, sword, eyes, bird, 2 spears, chocobo head, and so on, limitless options)
I think this would give enough variations for making our crests different from each other, provided the number of patterns/icons is a large one. It would also mean the devs or GMs wouldn't have to bother with checking if there's inappropriate creations.

The JP side had comments from other JP players
LSのクレストだけどHALOのように、メインクレスト、サブクレストって選べて、それぞれ色を指定できるだけでも良いんじゃないかな?ドットエディタみたいなので作らせるよりサーバに優しいと思うんです。
It would be nice if it was like HALO where you have main crest and sub crest and able to color select to make one unique crest. Might be easier on the server rather than using the dot editor.
マクロのアイコンについても同じ感じで組み合わせできれば、良いんですけどねぇ。
Would be nice if you can do same with macro icons.
