I'm gonna hve to agree with the general sentiment that if you wanna quit then suck it up and eat the penalty and go do some levequests or something

I agree, abandon duty should have a way longer lockout, and should be progressive in punishment.
I think that half an hour is OK for the first abandonment, but the second in 24 hours should result in a one hour lockout, then a third within 48 hours from that should be a 2 hour lockout. Any time a person abandons 10 duties in a week, i think that they should have a 72 hour ban from the whole game and the forums.
This is why vote abandon was created... and vote kick.
I think SE should change it so that if a party wipes 3 times you can leave without punishment.
Players should overcome the difficulties, not run away from them.
The leave penalty should be equal to:
time left in the instance minus time spent in queue.
Vote abandon should require everyone to accept.
Using vote kick to bypass lockout should end in a ban.
Pulling half of the area before a boss is a common strategy for WP, but everyone needs to keep up and make sure they don't run off with any mobs the tank misses. In this event, you don't mark targets, you AOE everything until it's dead.I want to start off by stating that I understand why the 30 minute timer is there. I do. But, having said that, it needs to be reworked.
Far too often, I'm in a group that simply cannot accomplish the task at hand, and no amount of coordination or beating my head against a wall is going to urge us through to completion. Sometimes a group simply cannot get it together. Like, just tonight, I was in a WP (yes, WP -- terribly arduous content, I know!) run that wiped three times before we even reached the first boss. The tank was overpulling, wasn't throwing up marks, and when I marked targets people ignored them. It was a bad group.
I actually hate the vote to abandon system.
Was in a party that was fine through the whole dungeon of Stone Vigil until we wiped on the final boss and then the Vote to Quit menu popped up. Seriously? One wipe and you want to leave? That's just stupid.
Reminds me of some recent Tower runs. Runs are going smooth as silk but one person on one party didn't get the specific drop they were after and decided to spam Abandon Votes. Almost like clockwork, from the first chest to Acheron. Naturally, the vote was trounced each and every time. I've seen it come up several times now, each time failing. People just don't want to eat the Finder cooldown...
If somebody wants to leave a run, I say let them leave.
We have threads complaining about people who want to leave runs in progress.
We have threads complaining about people who want to only join runs in progress.
It'd balance itself out.
