Will we ever get Frontlines?

After scouring the web, I've found scant information regarding the Frontlines aside from a nebulous idea, a few pieces of concept art, and a vague promise that it will be added to the game 'eventually.' Is this a plan that has slipped away? Because, frankly, the arena-style PvP of the wolves den isn't even slightly appealing to me... whereas a larger GW2-style battlefield could eventually (if it's done right) become my singular reason for continuing to sub.

Have there been any rumbles about this project moving forward, or can we simply consider it dead?

Never assume anything is dead, it's a subscription based MMO, there's a lot of content to generate and stuff gets pushed down the list on its importance.

PvE will always take a precedence over PvP in Final Fantasy, its just the playstyle most people seek, however PvP did prove very popular originally, I'd LOVE some battlefield matches, currently the arenas are just too cramped and tried and tested to the point where people know it too well.

If people play PvP regularly (which they did originally and still do) they've taken it into account I can assure you and they'll expand on it.

[My biggest gripe is the morale system, its based less on skill and more on stats]. I'd prefer base even stats for everyone across the entire board and use the tokens for vanity instead, so gear and weapons and more can be obtained (the resistance materia for sleep, poison, stuns would still work out fine) however the stats wouldn't change for the player.

It's very frustrating when your party is up against a Rank 30 PvP hit squad with a full set of gear, you simply get destroyed simply because of the overall damage reduction it provides.

Frontlines will probably come with the command ranks of the Grand Companies given how much Frontlines feels like military drills. Makes me think PvP will be further integrated into the game through it. Just speculation on my part... not that I'm welcoming the idea.
