Level 28 LNC/DRG cheat and hands

Does anyone know why the two DRG equips that are available at level 28 are worse than the level 23 equipment? For example, the Iron Scale Mail has 45 def and 45 mdef, while the level 28 steel chainmail is 38/18? They both have the same class restriction of GLD MRD LNC PLD WAR DRG, why would the higher level one suck in comparison? The same holds true for the iron scale fingers and the steel vambraces.

It is because the chainmail is essentially a lighter medium armor while the scale mail offers more. I bet the chainmail offers higher stats though. If it does say give 1 or 2 main stat along with vitality that is always the better armor.

EDIT: Yeah the steel will give you more str and vitality. So that is the better armor.

I noticed the increase in STR/VIT, but it's only like one point. I don't see that marginal increase making up for the substantial drop in primary stats. It's like people arguing overmelded HQ crafted ilvl70 gear is better than ilvl90; the increase in secondary stats is not going to make up for the loss of primary stats.

Well you have to see that LNC is a dps class, so STR actually is your primary stat. LNC however is kind of a special case since it gets access to a few semi-tank sets on its way to level 50, one of which is the iron scale mail set. So it is for you to decide if you want the dps armor or the tank armor.

Neither DEF nor MDEF are anyway close being your primary stats, they are actually not even worth being considered as secondary stats. Your primary stat is STR and STR alone. After that there's DET, CRIT and SS as your secondary DPS stats. Don't go crazy over VIT and especially not over DEF/MDEF.

You shouldn't even need to look at Def and Mdef since you're a DPS class. You have the tank to absorb the damage while you attack with your Strength. If you're solo, you kill so fast the mob can barely hurt you!
