what happened to musketeer?

So uh can we get an update on this?

If you arent going to release new classes till the expansion say so but im pretty sure it was mentioned that classes would be released in large patches(not expansions)

Actually, they did a double check on that... Arcanist wasn't originally planned for launch, let alone Summoner and Scholar, they were meant to be in 2.1. Musketeer on the other hand, that has never been given a estimate release date, though I expect it to come in a patch at some point. They've said we'd get new Jobs in patches at some point, and the only one (other than second Jobs for all existing Classes) that makes sense is Musketeer, short of Ishgard being in a patch and not an expansion.

Ah ok I was pretty sure there was a interview or a live letter during the beta where yoshi mentioned musketeer and said that he has to put it in the game (because its already in the game).

I did find it odd that smn and sch got released but no mention of musketeer. And all ive seen is a bunch of dress up doll updates. Maybe im just frustrated. maybe rehashing primal fights in harder modes just isnt doing it for me anymore. And nothing about vanity appeals to me at all. maybe it the 1 job ive been waiting on since 1.0 that I wanted to play the most but still cant play.

A mention in a live letter or some concept art would tide people over but it feels like a forgotten element at this time.

There are lots of things which seemingly get forgotten by the developers... The fact that we got some mention of things like FC Primal Summoning recently, after it had seemingly been forgotten for years, gives me some hope... Musketeer should really come before the tamer class which was mentioned alongside summoner way back... Thinking about it though, they could go the Tactics route and have Musketeer > Orator as a tamer Job...

Damn... I'm speculating, now I really want more information again... Maybe the community reps will bring me a birthday present /crossesfingers.

It didn't get mentioned, it was more of a theory craft based on the fact there was an Arcanist guild in 1.0 and a Musketeers guild. Arcanist was released and assuringly Musketeer is next.

Yoshida wants a stealth based class such as Ninja, Thief, Samurai or more casting classes ( Ideally Red Mage, sadly they're having extreme difficulty in balancing as to where to put this and how to work it).


As a lot of assets already exist for Musketeer it's safe to assume it's 'next-in-line' due to the poll results and the presxisting content for it. But thief was still VERY high on the original 1.0 poll for what people wanted to be added to the game, so you can expect Musketeer or Thief to be added in a later patch (I recall them saying it was going to be added in a patch, not the expansion), so 2.2/2.3, keep your eyes peel'd!

But the Maelstrom update is the perfect opportunity to have the introduce the new class/job (I doubt its even close to ready though, no hints were given), yet the same happened with Arcanist where we weren't informed of its addition until the last minute, so stranger things have happened!

This is very very unlikely though that we'll see this any time before 2.3

Muskateer or anything else being added...going to be cool, but really don't want to see the entire server as a Muskateer because now everyone wants to level it. Going to be like back in the day with all the carby's running all over the place...that was maddening.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added some type of caster class/job in front of MSK. I know i heard or read in an interview somewhere yoshi stated he wants to balance out the Disciples of War and Magic how it isn't balanced. What type of caster? who knows...Red Mage....or maybe a caster who's completely knew...a Necromancer focusing on completely debuffs would be awesome.

I'd take a dark knight first, followed by some type of thief class. The last thing the game needs is more casters.
