Fortress Siege (Not PvP... I promise!)

Okay, my idea is a mode where a group of players either defend or attack a fortress held by Garleans, beast tribes, etc.

In the defense section: a group of players (8-16) are placed within a fortress and are expected to hold off wave after wave of enemies, similar to the Firefight mode in Halo games.

You are able to leave the fortress, but if every player leaves it, or all the players in it die, it is taken over. If the players simply leave, you are able to reclaim the fortress. If all players die, however, the battle ends.

What can be done when you leave? You can sabotage gear, steal supplies, and other ways to hamper the enemy's invasion

In the siege: In Total War-style, a large group of players (again, 8-16, maybe more (for both Defense and Siege)) raid a fortress held by the aforementioned enemy factions. Note: The aforementioned sabotaging does work for this. (If it's possible, anyway.)

    Thoughts?

The angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

Sounds like a buff up version of Campaign battles from FFXI in theory should be fun.

As long as loot is handled right.

I like the suggestion. We really need different styles of gameplay. Right now it is really bland. Queue up and run through dungeons with a couple mini bosses then kill a boss at the end or queue up and kill a primal. The lack of variety needs to be addressed. I really don't care to see the same boss or dungeon multiple times unless we go from fighting one of them with 8 to fighting two or 3 of them at the same time with 24 people in a different setting (not a re skin). Prior to launch the game was referred to as a theme park but right now it feels more like a small carnival with the same same rides at different speeds and one ride that can only be ridden once.

Mhm. Loot would probably be an issue. Then again, I haven't had an issue with FFXIV's loot system. (So far, I like it better than other MMO's.) And... Dang it. Now I wish POL would quit giving me errors so I could play FFXI again. <.>

I definitely know that feeling. I have to take breaks every once in a while for a bit of variety. (And that's also my issue with any endgame content in games... Then again, I have yet to hit endgame except with 1.0. XD)
