I am getting irritated with Summoner in endgame content

News flash hitome, you're both pulling garbage dps, and if you look at the parser more closely the smn is doing very close to your dps with garuda included, considering its only doing 55 damage it must have died atleast once in the fight nerfing his overall damage pretty hard. You really shouldn't be talking as if you're all that when by your own parser... you're really not. I end that fight with 240+ dps and 70 dps on garuda when I get to do fester spam, meaning I'm not in a sale with only 3 dps and can actually avoid using bane fester for the gourd. Keep in mind those numbers do not include shadow flare....

Hitome, look at your own parser and you can seriously tell me you are proud of your DPS?? Well, at least your team member is pulling out the same level of DPS as you did, maybe that is why you have the delusion of being good in DPS.

I don't care whether you can spam flare like a machine gun or hit like a truck. All i can see is you are having a grudge towards your party member who happens to be a SMN. Maybe he stole your gear in coil or something but this is not the right platform for you to vent your anger.

Working (slowly, I'm a bad grinder) on progressing through content and I am seeing some pretty big drawbakcs to Summoner in some aspects. Specifically, if my pet dies to aoe damage I lose a lot of DPS because Garuda's gone and I can't always stop to re-summon without dying myself. Plus aoe scenarios like Garuda's Razor Plumes are giving me trouble because I don't seem to have much effective AOE ability unless I am missing something. I can dump three dots then Bane but that still leaves them alive and doing damage while the dots eat them. Can spam Blizzard 2 or Miasma 2 but they're not that strong damage wise.

Kind of feeling like I should have leveled Black Mage; no pet reliance, and stronger AOE. :\ Advice?

Unless something's changed recently, SMN are the best for handling Garuda HM's plumes due to Tri-disaster.

You time the cast of tri-disaster so that it hits right after they spawn. Then NOBODY TOUCH THEM! Just focus on Garuda and make sure everybody has AoE moves turned off (no flare, pets on obey, etc). They'll be stuck in place till they blow up, and when they do they're too far from the pillars to do anything.

Granted, I haven't fought Garuda HM in months but it *used* to work at least.

Nope.
Neither is Flaming Arrow.
Ground target AoE's like these two moves don't associate the player who cast them with the damage in the combat log, so there is no way for a parser to assign that damage to a player, so they just ignore it instead.

It's just yet another reason why parser data should be taken with a HEAVY grain of salt.

ACT does track shadowflare by reading through memory.

SMN still beats BLM even on T4. Shit on spiders so fast BLM gets little AoE time and SMN shines on the rest of the encounter with cleave.

True but this is assuming no one has died, if you aren't in a full FC group or static group for primals (particularly titan X) chances are as a SMN you have ressed. Additionally I use SC for others thing during primals since I don't let my pet die but an inexperienced smn might make the fatal mistake of letting it die and not have instant cast.
