Game lets you run the first 95 yards, then slows you down for the final 5... if you don't like that, you can consider yourself done and move on. If you're just wishing you could complete the final content asap so you can say you 'beat' FFXIV, then you're just gonna have to deal with it.

Otherwise, there currently isn't anything left once you slap that goal post, so there's no need to rush if you're thinking there's more content on the other side of the climb. (Kinda like climbing a bridge currently drawn up to let a boat pass under, you're just gonna fall and hurt yourself if you try to climb to the very top before it comes back down)

It was fun just because of the massive scale of it all and the variety of mobs but the reality was splitting 6~10 drops between 40-50 people in the span of 3 hours. Not what most consider fun (though I did).

Anyways, if I'm able to gear up an alternate character (MNK, in this case) within 2 and a half weeks of playing (currently i85), that might be a sign that a game is lacking content or that I just have an inordinate amount of free time on my hands. But considering upper level EE classes take up a majority of my time rather than a MMO, I'm more prone to say lack of content.

You can find my main character on lodestone. It is sitting there with absolutely nothing to do. i90 SCH with Allagan book, i90 BLM with no turn 5 weapon or turn 4 pants in 4+ months of clearing turn 5 and 5 months of turn 4, i86 WHM, i86 PLD, i80 BRD, all ex primal accessories, etc. Crafting you say? Everything but one at 50 and no purpose to make anything due to the economy at the moment. It's really weak when I go to spend 825 myth on a piece of gear (two weeks of saving) only to have it instantly replaced due to RNG with no refund available.

Is it that hard to accept that this game may be lacking in the content department just a little? I guess so if you have people have to defend it so blindly.

End-game isn't even out yet, that comes with level cap increase and the first expansion. FFXI was the same way. LVL50 cap and no end-game until Rise of the Zilart expansion. We just got lucky and that came out with the NA release of FFXI. I am just glad they gave us coil and CT and EX primals, FFXI had nothing but 200 xp per kill and insane xp per level to keep them busy until that expansion came out.

That seems horrible. I don't even wanna attempt things after hearing this lol.

Also, people who list the content for endgame look really silly when they are trying to portray that as something worthwhile. LOL. We all know the content dude. It sucks at this point. It's boring, tepid, and a slog to get through. Coil is done once a week. Myth is capped and even when it is not who gives a fuck. I have run these dungeons over and over and over. They fucked this game up at first and we are paying the price for a terrible company trying to turn into a good one. I guess that is how it goes. But it does mean we should reconsider subbing for nothing. 13 bucks for this is getting to be too much and I don't even care about money.

As others have said make crafting worthwhile. All they are doing now is making scrubs overly powerful without the right skills to do anything of EX level hardness, and the crafters have nothing to do but stare into space and sell materia because so much value is placed on loot and loot alone. If they continue to do this, and weaken old content, IDK man. This game needs some decision changes and they need them fast.

I'm not gonna outright agree with the TP but damn this game is getting old. I love it I do but things are starting to crumble again. I have made three people now past 25 and looking for my archer to do 40 soon. BLM has a couple i90 pieces and is fine for just about anything after I get my hat next week. Really, the only fun in this game I have anymore is SB'ing my personal crafters gear and selling it.

Seriously, this has turned into a merchant game for me. Nothing else is even remotely any fun anymore and I feel burnt out because well nothing left to do but Coil, Myth, Craft, or EX. Guy above looks like he has played the entire game to fruition. But there is no fruition. It's just stale. EX sucks because it's mostly a waste of time with randoms. Coil is okay but very very limited. SO those people who bring up that shit like there are just hundreds of hours to be had with that miniscule work are being overly generous or hostile to TP. Yes, we have seen the threads millions of times. But it still stands. This game is getting really useless and I am not sure a primal and one added dungeon plus plus is going to help this situation.

I also implore people not to compare this to the ridiculous nature of FF11. No one in their right minds would ever go back to that grind. What this game needs is a huge kick in the pants. It should come at some point. But I think break time is nearing very fast. I think one reason people have problems is because the game is addicting and we all want something important to do. But there isn't much of importance to do.

It did have end game stuff, HNM and BCNM. And level cap was I think was 65 when Zilart was released.

But the big difference between FFXI and FFXIV, is that FFXIV has the idea that the game begins at end game. So you would think they had more content at where the game "start".

Not really. Too often people just get all butthurt over XI because the drop rates were bad, and I agree they were horrible, but that doesn't mean the content wasn't necessarily done right. Relic weapons and Sky/Kings were a bit of a mess, but a lot of that had to do with the ridiculous spawn times (1~7 days) and utterly brutal drop rates on stuff like Diorite. Dynamis itself was a lot of fun, and there was no need to be so stringent with the currency and Relic Armor drop rates - particularly when most Relic weapons were only marginally better in performance than the next best option, save for a few things like the Haste from Catastrophe and the low chance of a super crit.

The simple fact that everything you killed had a chance of dropping loot, and you had to hunt for time extensions AND THERE WERE NO STUPID WEEKLY CAPS made it fun. I actually liked the 3 day lockout because unlike CT or Coil it doesn't force you into a single drop for that week, and it makes it somewhat easier to plan/schedule with your group. I've yet to see a reasonable argument as to why we can't have more content like XI did, with horizontal progression just with better drop rates - especially since it'll be weird having THF in this game with no real need for treasure hunter. Yes THF has other applications as well like hate manipulation, but it's always been a treasure hunter at heart, and in a game where everything is simply handed to you via coffers and and tokens, well it kinda defeats the purpose.

I don't like to generalize, but a lot of what I see from people here is simply selfish impatience - people who don't want to be bothered to actually work together and enjoy the content itself, working towards those shinies and would rather just have it handed to them for being able to memorize a fixed pattern with no variation and mindlessly spamming 1>2>3 every fight. I am by no means saying XI was perfect, merely that it was on the opposite end of the spectrum of ARR being far too harsh in its rewards vs time spent (at least up until Abyssea anyway). While that made getting those shinies all the more satisfying, it did cause people to burn out in much the same way that people are already burning out on ARR due to lack of content.

There's a happy middle ground to be found for sure, and the sooner the devs realize that the better.

I played FFXI, granted I quit long before this game came out. In any case, everything I ever did in that game was either 1. Leveling up, 2. Obtaining gear, 3. Obtaining gil so I can purchase more gear. Again, I think I quit after the expansion that came after Rise of the Zilart came out, so I don't have much experience past that point. I didn't really view fishing or camping monsters (for gear) as content though, which were popular passtimes back when I played.
