    SPAM!

I can't go two minutes in this game without being spammed by clowns selling Gil.

It's gotten to the point where my blacklist is filling two complete sliders and I'm literally STILL on my free trial period.

I'm assuming you can't ban these people by region or IP as they are probably cycling and bouncing that around as much as possible and you risk banning people that are legitimate players.

I have a solution. I would like this setting:

    Receive tells from:
    Free Company [X]
    Friends List [X]
Anybody Level 10 and Higher [X]
    Anybody [ ]

Any of the last two check boxes would permanently put the gil peddlers completely out of business as they are obviously just constantly creating and deleting brand new (level 1) characters, doing a generic search on the players list and firing off macros. Requiring level 10 before being allowed to send tells would not in any way harm the general community as I feel that 1-10 is a solo operation in every sense of the word.

Report the names using a harassment ticket to a GM. It's the only way. I've done it. If you cannot remember the names while filing the report, take a screenshot. Better yet, at the end of the day, make a list somewhere of all the names and then send the report into a GM. I've done that. Screenshots of the chat log and character names help with remembering and getting evidence.

    EDIT:
Btw, the GMs WILL do something about the spammers and RMT. It just takes time as they have to get other reports as well, so don't think they are ignoring you. I've reported RMT, and a few days later I don't see them anymore. Could be just my server.

Go through your list and delete the old ones. I guarantee you won't be seeing spam from them again. Also look for names that say (Deleted). Those are self-deleted RMTers trying to get around your blist by deleting old characters and creating new ones. Just delete it.

Yeah it's so aggravating, like I'm at a BBQ swatting flies. The DELETED ones don't come as fast anymore now I have to guess.

I'm not going to pretend I know what a GM does or what banning people entails. But you would think they one assign one person on an 8 hour shift per server to ban people

I don't undertake any of actually. If an account is banned don't you have to purchase another game with a new ID to start up. I personally think those RMT are printing their own money. How can all these companies promise so much Gil at the drop of a dime and for cheap, how is they major any money at all.

Why do said clowns even try to sell gil in this game.

I laugh so hard at them when they sell me gil, sometimes I even reply like

"Lawl... are you a moron, wth would I buy gil for this game, what would I use it on?"

Now in FFXI... I had to farm for 3 weeks just to have enough gil to by gear from a vendor...

Not so in this game.... why do they sell gil... who are they targetting?

About the only thing I can think of is the people buying primal carries or the FC's who can't find a way to fund their house.

Two weeks ago I had 110k... now I have 186k. I don't even try and my money goes up (with repairs and bcb runs every week).

Seeing as you're new around here and to the game, please use the search function before posting about this :3

We all went through it. We all dealt with the RMT and trust me, it was much worse in the beginning than it is now. Check your chat filters in game too btw.

Just keep blocking them and reporting them as they /tell you. Trust me, the reporting goes a long way. GMs are extremely serious about RMT, spammers, players that like to "grief" others, etc.

I agree with the OP, there should be options for who can send you tells. That would completely solve this spam issue and with very little work on the devs side I would imagine since chat filters are already in place as it is. I don't think that telling the OP to just deal with it and report them will solve the issue at all. I've seen this suggested before and it still makes the most sense to me.

A level requirement minimum option/checkbox is a brilliant idea. I think you're right, that client-side filter would solve the majority of tells from gil-sellers in the game.

Make it so that only people in FC or friends list can send you a tell. Otherwise they have to use say, yell or shout. We might end up back with the RMT shouters, but at least they tend to get banned faster lately.
