Duplicate Free Company names on same server.

Example of a duplicate free company name on the same server:

Our Free Company, Warriors of Light, was registered to the Diabolos server on 9/4/2013:

The reason I am bringing this topic up is because this causes confusion across the server on multiple levels:

1. Recruitment. If someone is looking to join a specific free company that they may have either heard about through word-of-mouth, partied with an existing free company member (but forgot their name), or by reading the server specific forums. Without proper research they could join the wrong one.

2. Harassment. Someone could potentially harass another player, and the harassed may be confused as to which free company actually committed the harassment. Possibly reporting information to GMs that could potentially affect a free company.

3. Respect and integrity. If one free company that shares the same name as another free company decides to be less respectable to players in-game it could cause another free company with the same name to feel the backlash and repercussions of the dis-respectable free company.

Square-enix,

As a member of the respected and established free company, Warriors of Light, on the Diabolos server since 9/4/2013; we would like for you to consider changing the attributes and requirements for which a player can register a free company name.

Please do not allow someone to register a free company name that already exists on that server! It should not matter if the name is entirely capitalized, lower-case, a combination of upper & lower-case, or correctly capitalized. Once a name is taken it should NOT be permitted to be used or registered again.

Please consider changing the rules for free company name registration so that future and existing free companies do not need to worry about the aforementioned complications.

My free company "Requiem" ran into this problem when transferring to a NA server from a JP server. We were originally Shinra. Before we transferred, we checked to make sure there were no other "Shinra" free companies out there. There were at least 2 others. We could have slightly modified our name to shinra, shinra inc, Shinra Corp but we didn't. We didn't want to be another douche bag FC sharing names with others. We just came up with a different name. People can check the free company database, they just don't. There is really nothing to be fixed.
