Lightning Returns gives hints to FFXIV: ARR Jobs coming? (Maybe?!)

My friend Von pointed this out to me with one example so I thought I’d look deeper into it. We all know SE swapped things back and forth between Lightning Returns and FFXIV: ARR, such as the Miqo’te outfit for Lightning in her game, and the Lightning Fates in FFXIV… but does it go deeper than that:

In FFXIV we switch to jobs using the following Soul Crystals:

Soul of the Dragoon
Soul of the Summoner
Soul of the Monk
Soul of the Warrior
Soul of the Paladin
Soul of the Scholar
Soul of the Bard
Soul of the White Mage
Soul of the Black Mage

It seems that Lightning Returns uses this same system for some of her Schemata:

Soul of the Dragoon
Soul of the Paladin
Soul of the White Mage
Soul of the Black Mage

But there are some we do not have, such as:

Soul of the Red Mage
Soul of the Blue Mage
Soul of the Thief

Could SE be hinting at jobs that are coming to FFXIV for those who see this?! It is possible that these souls mean that these three jobs might be coming.

Although them appearing in Lightning Returns means nothing to 14, I still want all those classes.

So in short, I'm optimistic, but wary that the connection is meaningless.

SE openly admitted that people working on 14 and 13 were talking and giving one others stuff for the others game
Both games happen to use the exact same 'Soul' names for the exact same jobs in both games
13 already has stuff from 14 in the game, and 14 has items from 13.

Regardless, it is an interesting theory and I don't think it's that far fetched, knowing the people from each game talked and collaborated. And this thread isn't about it being true, it's about the idea that the jobs in 13 and 14 match up. Have some fun with it, lol~!

That's not entirely correct - the only true FFXIV reference in LR:FFXIII was the inclusion of the miqo'te starting gear as a costume for Lightning (plus Grand Company swords and shields as well), more as a joke than a deliberate attempt to tie the games together, and Yoshi-P jokingly said he'd repay the compliment by "finding some way to allow Lightning to visit Eorzea in ARR", which resulted in the 'Lightning Strikes' event in ARR that became cross marketing. That's all.

The Job garbs in LR:XIII are more of a reference to FFXIII-2 which had WHM and BLM costumes for Serah and Noel respectively as DLC (after all, the Job garbs in LR look nothing like FFXIV AF, pouring cold water on that theory.).

I think people say far fetched because one is an offline game nowhere near in the same category and not even truly a 'job' system - Most of XI's devs are on XIV as well, so looking at XI's jobs would be a much bigger hint than LR.

Yush~! You are right which is basically what I said in a different way! Yoshi said that the LR people came to him asking for 14 stuff in their game so they said they would put LR stuff in our game! What you are saying is not that far off of what I said, just in a different way~! The two groups talks, gave one another items from the others game and put it into theirs~!

Also I don't think it pours cold water on the theory at all that the clothes look different. If you look at Final Fantasy - Final Fantasy 14, they outfits are always changing. That is nothing new, heehee. The thing we found interesting was the fact that 14 uses the same exact soul name for their jobs as 13 does. This is supposed to be a fun thread, not a 'lets be all serious' thread, lol

Anyway I totally wouldn't put it past Yoshi to do it, he loves to give out info he shouldn't be giving and giving out hints to stuff that his boss kinda frowns on lol
