That sounds more like a conspiracy theory.
That sounds more like a conspiracy theory.
You know, people are going to be influenced by "conspiracy theories" when it involves a company that has remained silent for months (and counting) on a legitimate issue. People are going to start doubting whether or not Square Enix is doing business in good faith.
The thing is, they haven't been silent, they specifically said they're going to look into other options -- Hell most of the businesses I know and worked at never revealed why they went with Nvidia over Amd for their GPU supplier, or vice versa, the Xbox engineers never went into full intimate detail as to why they decided on x,y,z hardware for the 360 beyond obvious stuff you could get simply searching google for a few seconds.
Clickandbuy has a bad rap with people sure, what company doesn't? C&B likely offered the best solution for them which all businesses would go for. Anything regarding C&B's practices is not up to SE to explain nor the decision to go with them, as people seem to have forgotten you can indeed use Paypal/Ultimatepay, while some countries may not be able to but guess what? That's life, in Japan I can't utilize certain services offered by North America and Europe.
be careful Jennestia, when you make since around here, people tend to bit your head off ;p
What you are doing here is attempting to minimize the controversy of using ClickandBuy. What the gamers here are wanting is a simple solution that does not go to a foreign company (forcing us to pay a foreign exchange rate), and the most obvious solution is to offer MORE payment options, not less.

We don't care about the explanation. We care about having a proper payment option that doesn't make us wonder if our credit card number has been compromised. We have a right to financial security.
And for god's sake people, STOP using UltimatePay as an argument point, because that's exclusively for Crysta, and some of us do not want to waste money on that kind of BS. Get it through your heads.
Paypal/ultimatepay (i.e Crysta). There's already an alternative offered to more people, which they already stated they'll look into even more. What you are doing here is attempting to minimize the controversy of using ClickandBuy. "I agree there is another alternative, but I don't want to use it so I'll just say they don't offer anything other than click&buy." Is what you're saying in other words. I don't like that I have to pay yearly for my Gold Xbox live account but I do it.And for god's sake people, STOP using UltimatePay as an argument point, because that's exclusively for Crysta, and some of us do not want to waste money on that kind of BS. Seriously, it's almost like you're throwing a temper tantrum just because they won't immediately make 100 payment options for a game you're not even paying for yet.
Dude. Have you EVER done the math? At all? There is a LOT of money wasted when you buy Crysta. You are forced to buy Crysta in the thousands, and you can't tailor that to a specific amount so you don't have leftover crysta. I see that as waste."I agree there is another alternative, but I don't want to use it so I'll just say they don't offer anything other than click&buy." Is what you're saying in other words. Go take an accounting class, please.
You fail to get it. There are only TWO options. ClickandBuy and UltimatePay. I'd rather be paying via credit card, but I refuse to leave that information with ClickandBuy. But UltimatePay, let's see.. $20 game time card. But the average subscription is $14-15, right? So I'm getting $5 left over. But when you convert it to Crysta, it gets even MORE muddled, and it tells me some of my money is going into a financial black hole. Then don't use click&buy and use the other options available to you currently.
Sorry, but I am not going to take a method that does not offer straight, transparent accounting of where my money goes, and what happens to it. Also, I am sick and tired of virtual currencies.
Jeez, people like you piss me off. More money than sense...

I have done the math -- Have you ever dealt with businesses before that overcharge? Protip: If you're a gamer you have.Dude. Have you EVER done the math? At all? See? it's all personal then. It's not going anywhere, because the fellow gamers you seem to be fighting for bought DLC enmasse which showed people gamers are willing to throw away money.
It's not "more money than sense", it's being realistic because realistically speaking, SE is a business and all businesses is out to make money, it's not like there's hidden costs thrown in, you know what you're getting into when you use crysta.

Funny, I'm not a console gamer, so I've rarely, if ever, bought DLC. Yes, I know what's involved with Crysta, and I don't agree with it.I have done the math -- Have you ever dealt with businesses before that overcharge? Protip: If you're a gamer you have.

You keep ignoring the fact that there are only two options, which is essentially what puts you between a rock and a hard place - not an acceptable position. What I want to see is a better payment option, and I want to hear about it before subscriptions resume. Otherwise, things aren't going to go well.
And yes, it's personal. Know why? Because I used ClickandBuy once, because Square Enix only offered it as the option. Guess what happened? My CC info has been compromised. Do you think I appreciate that?
So, the reality is: It's Square's fault for forwarding customers to a shady operator, and it's their fault that people have had their credit cards compromised, because they did not do their due diligence on the trustworthiness of the service provider. They clearly did not research fraud reports, agencies that accredit businesses, etc.
So it is my opinion, and my perspective, that just because it is a third party payment processor, does NOT excuse Square Enix from this mess.

You're forgetting that Crysta isn't available in a lot of places. . .Paypal/ultimatepay (i.e Crysta). There's already an alternative offered to more people, which they already stated they'll look into even more.
