Terrible Payment System

I really don't like the idea of Click and Buy either. I don't like the idea of a third party having my information. I had issues with Paypal going into my bank account (roughly 2 years ago now) and withdrawing $4-7 at a time for "service fees" even when I wasn't doing any transactions.


Can a dev/PR person please give some insight as to why we're forced to pay for FFXIV using a shady company like Click and Buy? It's ridiculous that SE an't handle the payments directly themselves.

I was looking forward to updates with the game and would of willingly paid a subscription if I liked the next few patches, but now that I'm finding out that Click and Buy is crap, well, I don't see that happening.

I've just looked online for reviews on click and buy and seems the general idea is that they are scammers. Apparently their customer service is none existent, charging fees, charging credit cards multiple times and god forbid if you ever need a refund from them...

Given that FFXI is widely perceived as the Square Enix cash-cow these days, one would question why they are making billing any more complicated for it. Moving the billing system to one of a more poorly received game does not sound like a way to keep subscribers smiling, especially when said subscribers have made a conscious decision to not move over to playing FFXIV instead of XI for whatever reason(s) they deem most applicable to them.

wow... if that is true all the NA guys that I know that been playing FFXI with me on JP release with JP FFXI account wont be able to play after that SE account transition... wow that will suck big big big time for all of them since US credit cards work on Playonline but not on JP Square Enix account system. (they don't accept foreign cards)

Only if you could buy the exact number of crysta needed for one/two/three/six months. At the moment, you can't buy an entire number of game months. This is ridiculous.

Just stopping by to throw my name in the support hat; but when I do that I like to leave comments so the likes don't just fade away.

I thought Crysta was a great idea until I saw how the specifics worked; if the motivation here truly is to avoid the processing fee of being able to use a credit card, that's ludicrous. No matter how you slice it, there does need to be some user-friendly reform to the entirety of the payment system; interface and options both.

Considering how many topics have been made about this subject, and subsequently ignored by the devs, I seriously doubt anything is going to change any time soon.

I'm rather disappointed with the lack of attention they seem to give to this glaringly obvious and horrible issue, especially in a game that WILL have monthly fees someday.
