If you haven't used the account at all yet, I don't think you get charged at all.
I believe this should explain everything you need to know:

Lucky for you guys Crysta is an option, but for us we can't even get Crysta nor UltimatePay.
Sorry if this has been brought up already but I think the main reason they did decide upon Click and Buy was because of fake credit card frauds. Since a person could play for a month or two and then lie at the fact that their credit card wasn't suppose to be used and such so they end up getting reimbursed. Because of this not only does SE lose money from the customer that did that but I believe they also pay additional fees cause of it. The kinda stuff that does go on with CC is bull but you gotta blame the people that exploit things like that. For a proper payment system though it does seem like it would be logical to have Crysta cards that they sell just like psn xbox and other game cards. But maybe they fear that they production and the fact there isn't a lot of stuff that crysta can do atm will show in it's loses from the production of the cards.
I'm not even sure what would be the best method for Monthly subscriptions they all seem to be exploited in one way or another though I do hope that by the time they do decide to make it a monthly subscription they add another payment method. If anything maybe they'll allow crysta to be purchased with psn network so then you can get crysta that way which would be nice. Though that's the only other way I can think of doing it atm other then using old systems that seem to be exploited by some.
Pretty sure it dealt with getting sued by players because of their confusingly deceptive billing practices where a player could subscribe on Jan. 25 and then get billed again on Feb. 1, when the subscriber felt they were paying for 30 days of game time.Sorry if this has been brought up already but I think the main reason they did decide upon Click and Buy was because of fake credit card frauds. Instead of correcting their billing dept. for FFXIV, which was the legitimate option, they went through a mess of options that has ended up making future consumers feel less secure.

ClickAndBuy is the AT&T of payment processing systems. Sometimes it works, but it's often a disappointing experience at best and complete crap at worst.

Let me tell you, C&B and Crysta is going to run off a LOT of players. They're pretty much flat out ripping off people and they're not subtle about it either.
umm if you do not wanna use the click and buy option just use the credit card option. I can use the ultimate pay option and found it easy to use.
I think you guys are causing your own grief and blaming SE because you are used to using them as the blame target. SE gives you several options pick one and be done. In some cases I'm happy putting in a payment option is a bit of a hassle. If they made it easy. A kid can just swipe their parent CC and buy stuff with it Unless said parent find out via statement.

They don't, and that's the problem.
UltimatePay is pretty much acceptable for everyone (mainly for the reason they can just use their preferred payment option there), but it seems people from various countries don't have the UltimatePay-Option.
They can either pay through Click&Buy or dump FF XIV the day SE starts charging for it.
I'm sure SE does not want to lose the people who stayed through this looong beta phase, and does not want to scare away new PS3 players either, simply by having only one payment option for some countries.
One nobody is trusting, too.
That's why I'm really eager to hear some response from SE about this.

C&B refused all of CC from my country and there is no crysta option from my country. I will be forced to not play when they starts to charge because C&B is a useless fucking company next to SE's customer service.
