If you don't think new summoner is better, you're playing the wrong game.
Quoted from another thread where I went somewhat off-topic. Square doesn't understand the meaning of "toxic asset". If you limit your customers to certain toxic assets, you end up poisoning your entire property. You don't want to do that to Final Fantasy...I disagree. They still have a few silver stakes stuck in the body that, if left in, will cause necrosis and damage the property irreversibly. ClickandBuy is one of them, Arcell. We only have two options outside Japan to pay for our charges, when subscriptions resume: CC through ClickandBuy (UK-based company) or Crysta (Acquireable only through CnB or UltimatePay).I was half-kidding but yeah I mean some of the decisions made in the past weren't the best. However it's getting better (in my opinion at least) and come PS3 launch it will get it's second chance. That will really be the deciding factor. I mean I plan on playing PSO2 a lot come launch but I won't drop this game for it. I'll do what I can to balance considering PSO is more of a time killer to me.
There have been a LOT of fraud reports filed against ClickandBuy, and many of them remain unresolved. Most of these problems involve double-billing, failure to comply with unsubscription requests, unauthorized transactions, among other issues.
I personally know a few people who have been ripped off by ClickandBuy in the past. One lost 1700 british pounds to their unethical business practices.
If Square Enix does not offer a more trustworthy payment option (ie, PayPal) when the PS3 version comes, a lot of PS3 users will realize just how bad CnB is and become VERY disillusioned with Square Enix. There have already been a huge number of complaints coming from the FFXI community over ClickandBuy, and even with that, Square has yet to provide an official or unofficial response on the issue.
Which tells me they are unwilling to tackle the problem...
The end result? Lots of people joining FFXIV on PS3, then quitting within 3 months. Just like FFXIV PC launch.
Square still hasn't learned a damn thing.

Well...here the issue then...if indeed the Yakuza is behind SE and the C&B...then what could a lawsuit do in reality except maybe destroy the company and then the Yakuza would just move on to the next company of w/e it takes to make money...so in reality...it's the mob that's the problem and running the show...like back in the day when the mobs ran Vegas....

Watch I'll most likely get assinated by some croney for cracking the case :P Sad times for me XDWell...here the issue then...if indeed the Yakuza is behind SE and the C&B...then what could a lawsuit do in reality except maybe destroy the company and then the Yakuza would just move on to the next company of w/e it takes to make money...so in reality...it's the mob that's the problem and running the show...like back in the day when the mobs ran Vegas....

Q: Will FFXI/XIV users paying via C&B be subject to any additional administration or credit card usage charges?
A: As a FFXI/XIV subscription takes direct payments from a user's chosen payment method, it is not necessary to store funds in the ClickandBuy account. Therefore the charges outlined below will not be applicable to anybody simply using their C&B account to pay for their FINAL FANTASY XI or XIV subscription. Should a customer wish to use their ClickandBuy account for additional services, additional fees may be incurred. For more information on these, please refer to http://clickandbuy.com/GB_en/
Users may incur various charges when utilising a C&B account. These include but are not limited to the following:
- ClickandBuy charges a 'pre-loading' fee of 3.9% of any transaction into your ClickandBuy account when using a credit card.
- There is a handling fee charged for withdrawal of funds from a ClickandBuy account of £1.85/€1.85.
- If a ClickandBuy account has been inactive for 1 year and contains funds, a maintenance fee of £1.00/€1.00 may be charged.
Please note players paying for their FINAL FANTASY XI or XIV subscription in a currency other than EUR or GBP will be subject to a foreign exchange rate of 5.9% per transaction.
Also in the same post by that Dev:
And just for the record, other threads where people have been or are complaining about the current billing system FFXI/FFXIV has/will have::Q: Why is Square Enix switching from the PlayOnline billing setup to Square Enix Account billing?
A: Square Enix has opted to employ an external company for the processing of payments to offer the highest level of security to customer transactions.

I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
Wow, Kai.
This just illustrates the immense stupidity...NA players are a large segment of their playerbase, so is it really a smart idea to force them to pay in a foreign currency? Seriously, just wow.
If I were in their shoes, I would have gone with PayPal...
Edit: I am completely and thoroughly convinced Square-Enix is not listening. As a result, I doubt I will be staying on with Final Fantasy XIV when subscriptions resume. I may end up going to Phantasy Star Online 2, TERA Online, or SWTOR.
I reiterate this: At this rate, Square Enix will not be able to break even on the investment costs being put into FFXIV, if they do not offer other payment options by the time the PS3 version launches.
Edit2: Does ANYONE have the phone number of someone in Square Enix that we can call to complain at? I'm getting tired of sitting on my hands hoping for something that is NEVER going to happen because of Square's lack of listening ability.

Those are the two I am interested in (more so Tera), and as much as I love FF games if they don't give us more payment options I don't know if I will stay. It's a shame, start enjoying the game and get (possibly) run off by a bad payment concept.
I'll keep playing as long as it's free... but if they say they are gonna charge and these are the only options i'll have to seriously consider my options.
btw my friend is playing the JP beta for Tera, he is enjoying it and says it's good.

The localization team at En Masse is working on getting it ready for the launch in 2012, and it's looking good here, too. The problem is the fashion for me and some of my friends. We aren't exactly fans of the skimpy korean art direction for the females.![]()

Yeah I heard they were changing it for the US because people were angry about the skimpy outfits (or something like that, maybe it was the game ratings people) and that's one of the reasons US release got pushed back.

I thought the artwork for Tera was beautiful myself. Yeah it's a bit flesh-y but I wouldn't think provocative thoughts about a diminutive child type creature running around in a bathing suit.. it's something I see every day lol! I don't have any kids but all of my friends do so I have to tread carefully to avoid stepping on any munchkins. But I guess there are sickos out there that get their jollies looking at that stuff. It's a shame too, because I really love the outfits in Tera.
