everything in this video is right and the reason why we see our FC going from 100 members to only 30-35. some pepeol have simply take a break til next patch and see what it have to offer, but most of them have simply quit. I realise that even on monday the server have less and less pepeol. And yeahyou will tell me :" wait next patch." but next patch is going to have the same problem. we will get new allagan points to cap each week with new countent lock with the old DL gear, CT gear and also Mytho gear that are going to be useless. So its just the same old crap being repeated. And thats scared me because i dont see any improvement in the game what so ever. Im going to subscrib only for one month and see what does that patch really have in its core, but if its going to be the same story since launch, im done.
High end gear have no meaning or value in this game. So what if u get it early. Someone who just grinds the tomes will get an equivalent in what? A week or 2 tops? When there is no sense of achievement other than just a mere achievement unlock or Title that you can't even show to people, it gets pretty bland to say the least.
Why work for anything in the game when you can just run the same easy dungeons over and over again and collect tomes to exchange for the highest tier end game gear. There is no feel of epicness in this game because everyone wears the same damn thing. There has to be a gap between those who work for it and those who don't. It will give something to aim for instead of being something that you cap once a week and do nothing for the remaining days.

Because if you make things too hard, requiring skill and organization you're going to alienate a great majority of the player-base, because they're just "playing for fun", different from people that wanna hard content because they need to prove or compensate something in their real life. (disclaimer: I don't think like that, just repeating the usual excuse people give around these forums. imo it's all BS, everybody play for fun, just some use the "I play for fun, get a life!" as a way to excuse their laziness and lack of interest for challanges)
Really, give up, guys. This is a two-days top worthy in content, unless you can't follow scripted mechanics in fights. We have dailies we finish in around 30min. Alright, we will get more bosses for the "end-game", but they're not adding, they're just nerfing the old and replacing it. We will also get more 15min-long dailies to do, with the new tribes and a new primal that we will put on farm in less than a week.
I understand the need for lockout, but I can't accept we can pretty much finish everything in there is to be done in a day and have to use our imagination to fill the gap in between resets. I never played WoW, I played lineage2, requiem, tera, secret world and rift, to mention some. In all of them I stayed for years and still play and never in my gaming life I said I was actually bored from the game. Which is sad, I'm a SquareEnix's fanboy.![]()

And this is where your argument loses it's value. Let me tell you the real reason why. It's to make the game have a purpose other than capping points. To have a real aim. I don't see how making some equipments or items super hard to get will alienate the majority of the playerbase. And I don't see how a few content in the game requiring extreme skill to pass will affect the majority of the game's playerbase either be it solo or group content.Because if you make things too hard, requiring skill and organization you're going to alienate a great majority of the player-base, because they're just "playing for fun", different from people that wanna hard content because they need to prove or compensate something in their real life
Diversity. It's very lacking in this game.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic and just repeating what I read time after time in these forums. I don't think making stuffs hard to get would alienable anybody but those who don't wanna try to get it for real. Because I don't think we should set the bar low in order to include people, instead we should motivate people people to get better. As of now the game lack much incentive for it.And this is where your argument loses it's value. Let me tell you the real reason why. It's to make the game have a purpose other than capping points. I've started to notice a current theme here in that it's Legacy vs Non-Legacy in terms of game design. The key issue with this is Non-Legacy started from level 1 and played through the game where as Legacy started off @ 50 with limited end game content. This set the tone of the game where as Legacy, from the very beginning of ARR, it was log in, complete caps via AK and CM runs and coil. Non Legacy had to grind to 50, challenge all the primals for weapons, complete relics, work on getting DL gear and then start on AF1+ and coil.
The economy is an issue and end game content design needs to be worked out better in terms of how they relate to crafting. Vanity is a baby step just like housing but it's a step. I think materia system need to be further explored for end game use. Also on how end game items are upgraded should be reexamined. Seems silly to just purchase AF1+ where as the story had AF1 a hard to get item. The relic quest is fine example in terms that you need a crafter to make the weapon and bind it with materia as a piece of the quest.
As far as current state of the game? I would still say strong. True people have left with in the first few months but that's normal in every MMO ever made. Yoshi-P has a good head on his shoulders, knows the market, know the genre, and has a game plan of the year. Having said that I do think launch schedule has become backwards and needs to be address ASAP. The original plan was CT > Coil > CT > Coil or i80 > i90 > I95? > i100? I think the devs should focus on launching both CT round 2 and Coil round 3 in 2.3 to get caught up.

I'm glad to see a good discussion. Some points I want to touch on:
1.) I don't care how many millions of boxes you sold. How many still play? I have a FC member list of 100ish people. 50 Haven't logged on for over 60 days and I don't expect to see them again. 40 Log on to Myth Cap, Coil, Primal Weapon and then we don't see them WED - SUN and likely won't re-sub. About 10 people actually log on and play the game day to day... or log on to chat about how there's nothing to do. If the 10% that actually play are unhappy... where will this leave the game in the future?
2.) If we wanted to play WoW we wouldn't have purchased Final Fantasy. No need to compare the 2. There are things we love about the FF series and we loved about XI online that drove us to this game. We're not asking for a copy of other games we choose not to play.

2) Lost all cool points because of the un specified use of "WoW Clone" to justify your argument. FFXI had the same mechanic as weekly caps and purchase of end game gear through tokens.
FYI: most people came to FFXIV in 2010 because we liked FFXI but wanted something more modern without the old school time sinks = challenge approach.

But ffxiv is just about capping points and clearing your weekly lockouts. There's a difference1) 1.8 million players
