    WHM Gear Planning

Now that I'm done with the new main scenario quests, I'm looking at the new gear. This is the new build I came up with, keeping my emphases on Piety and spell speed.

    High Allagan crook
    High Allagan circlet of healing
    Daystar robe
    High Allagan gloves of healing
    High Allagan belt of healing
    High Allagan pantaloons of healing
    Daystar sollerets
    High Allagan choker of healing
    Daystar earrings
    High Allagan bracelets of healing
    Daystar ring
    High Allagan ring of healing

Thanks to the new glamour system, I'm okay with mixing sets. I'll just make it look like I'm wearing the full set of whatever I like better between these two and cleric's gear.

Allagan Cane drops from the hardest raid so it makes sense that it's the best. It gives more mind, weapon damage, spell speed, adds piety

If you're going to focus Spell Speed, understand that it, like determination, needs to be stacked to be efficient. I'd recommend going for Allagan boots over myth for that case.

Hero's necklace should be replaced by Allagan (neither have spell speed, but the tiny bit of det will benefit you more then the tiny bit of crit)

Allagan cane isn't a guaranteed drop either, Twintania is far from a walk in the park if you are new to it. You will probably want your Thyrus Zenith to even have a chance at getting it.

I've been looking all over for a gearing guide for low level WHM, mid 30s. Everything seems to be written for endgame gearing. Am I to assume that as you play through to 50 you just use whatever gear you grab along the way? I'm not sure if I am missing some things, but I spend most of my time playing through duty finder and fates, so I am over leveled for the main story. I think I am at story level 25, my WHM is level 35, and my gear is an average of 18. I try to make sure that I use gear that increases my mind stat as well as unique colored gear. Am I doing it wrong?

@Raeanya . . . most, if not all, of the gear under 50 is not specific to white mages, or any other magic class for that matter. All of the lower level gear is usually just available to all magic users. There are pieces that have intelligence or mind, etc. but those are usually the accessories.

During my leveling from 1-50, I just looked for the best I could find through dungeons, storyline or the market board. Battlemage is great for levels 32 on up to around 44, where you can go to Dzemael Darkhold and get the Colesium gear. From there, once you hit 45, do your job quest to get 4 pieces of your starting artifact gear (legs, head, feet and hands) and then get your body piece when you get to level 50 (also by job quest).

Basically for levels 1-49 you just use gear that raises MND (Often this will be any "mage" type gear, which will also boost INT), and you should pick whatever has the highest item level. This is different from equip level. It should be noted green background items usually have a higher item level than their equip level, but as an example a white background level 30 item is better than a green background item level 25 item. Also, if it's a crafted item, it must be high-quality to compare to non-crafted items of the same item level.

Thanks. I guess I will just have to keep an eye out for better gear as I go, and not be so partial to green or pink background stuff.

I really hate mixing gear sets like that, though. The Allagan necklace of healing is fine.

It does look very very awkward, but I believe it's well worth it (cleric's boots are better for a det build)

If you're lucky and check my lodestone, you may see me on WHM so you can see my gear, but be forewarned that accessory drops have been incredibly harsh to me

Allagan Cane drops from the most difficult fight in the whole game and it's not a 100% drop. It's the best weapon for a reason and I assure you the trouble you go for your relic zenith is nothing compared to downing Twintania.

There's different opinions for if WHMs should go for crit or spell speed, but picking one over another won't hinder you in any way. I've personally gone for MND > DET > CRIT > anything else. Another weapon option is Omnirod which you can pick after killing all Extreme primals.

This is a very nice site for comparing different gear options: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/
