Is there, by any chance that you can just download the software for FFXIV with your PSV to play and not need a PS4 to do so? What about the PS3? I'm just curious.
    Newp.

Need a PS4 sadly for FFXIV streaming, and it's almost entirely down to hardware sadly.
Currently the PS3 version of FFXIV barely functions smoothly at times without crashing let alone trying to get the extra power needed to stream it to your PSP or PSVita stably.

Well I constantly play on my PS3 like 95% of the time. Only time I have issues is during titan extreme where my PS3 can't load the plume effects fast enough for me to react quickly enough. That's the only issue on my end and I have excellent connection even as my PS3 is wireless.

It's not a connection issue for streaming.

Streaming requires a ton of processing power and memory to record, compress and transmit the data to your PSvita.
The PS3 doesn't have anything allocated to support this, whereas the PS4 actually has a dedicated partition of memory and processing power specifically for streaming content. (Sharing+Remote Play)

It's a hardware limitation, not a networking one.
