Names of Coeurls through various stages of development

This has bothered me a little while, especially with the new minion and treasure chest hunts.

We have a new "Coeurl Kitten" minion. The quest to acquire it goes to great lengths to specifically state that it is a real baby coeurl we obtain. The model is used in the quest. Awesome.

But prior to patch, and also included in the treasure hunts if you get coeurl family of monsters attacking, is the coeurl pup. (The three monsters you get in the coeurl family from a treasure chest is a territorial coeurl pup - as large as a normal coeurl, has no spots, territorial young coeurl - has spots, and a territorial coeurl - the last being a torama/white model).

So, why is it that the small, tiny minion we get, Coeurl Kitten, called a kitten? Why does it have spots? Does it suddenly go through a metamorphoses when it gets its whiskers, lose its spots and become an entirely different colour?

I think this may have been a case of, "We just really want to give them a kitty....but we don't want to give them a kitty.....Are there even house cats in Eorzea?...Hmmmm....."

We're finding over in the bestiary thread that many mobs, especially the "Territorial" ones from the Treasure Hunt mini-quests, are not following already-established species/subspecies precedents as it is. It is rather confusing and only a little bit frustrating.

Even before the treasure chest monsters, there was already coeurl pups as a general enemy, which did not have their spots yet (kind of like dalmation puppies, I guess). Perhaps there are two teams who have not quite communicated the explicitly the lore of such things to one another.

No such thing as an S-E mis-communication; there is a reason for this, we just have to find out why!

You guys are doing it all wrong!

In real life, physicists will tell you that when they come across a paradox that threatens to invalidate all current theories for explaining the Universe and existence, they'd actually be very happy.

Because it means that there is something that they don't know.

And when there's something that they don't know, it means there's more science to be done!

You must never believe that the cake is not a lie!
