As much as I loved the original storyline in 1.0, ultimately, the story of ARR is pretty much a sequel/continuation of it, meaning it would serve no purpose to go back to (not to mention much of what had been planned for 1.0's story in the future was ultimately scrapped when Yoshi took over as producer and director, and made the decision to make ARR, and thus, bring Dalamud down.

So apart from occasional Echo-scenes of life five years earlier, I doubt the 1.0 story will be brought back in full (I'm glad I played 1.0 through to the end of the original storyline for that reason, thus was able to experience it).

Well considering we live with magic and dimensional travel of some forms the idea wouldn't be to hard to pull off. And while the chances are unlikely I don't think that doesn't mean its worth a shot to try. If we can make the topic hot I'm sure SE will at least acknowledge its existence and will give us a definitive answer.

If they did it for FFXIII I'm sure they will do it for FFXIV. I just hope they don't use paper-thin/majora mask story-line rip offs.
