Open questions about transferring to the PS4 version

I read the PS4 product page about the PS3 player transfer, but I am still blank on so many things. I'm hoping a dev could maybe pop in and clarify some things, but we'll have to see. Maybe I can at least get some insight from you guys on some matters.

--- The page says that my PS3 copy will no longer be usable. Does it just mean my subscription is no longer active on that platform, but I could hypothetically resub at any time? Because the way it's worded it seems almost like my copy will be bricked.

--- If I choose to actually buy the PS4 version instead of using the apparent one-way transfer, can I not access any of my stuff anymore? Or is my character data, CE/veteran rewards, etc. SE Account bound, so if I buy a PS4 copy and sub up can I still access all my characters, CE and veteran reward privileges? (People who play both PC and PS3 might be able to answer this).

--- If I choose to do the one-way transfer, but later decide to buy a PS4 copy anyway so I can access both (assuming the transfer did effectively 'brick' the PS3 copy), can I switch to using the physical PS4 copy without any account problems? I ask this because SE has a system in which instances of games are 'registered', so I was wondering if buying a PS4 copy later would be considered a 'new' copy of the game on my account and cause problems.

--- In the middle of all these issues, where do I stand with my CE and veteran rewards? What versions would have access to what and when? Just so you know, I have a PS3 Collector's Edition and am at the current highest veteran rewards tier.

I probably have more questions but these will do for now.
I hope we can get some helpful responses.

    To answer your questions:

-- Subscription is tied to account, not platform. You can buy the PS3 version of the game again to get access to it, or buy the PS4 version without transferring in the first place.

-- Everything you quoted is account-bound. The only thing that isn't is your action-bars, gearsets, and anything you modified in the Character Settings window (possibly more). These are tied to the console/PC you are using, not your account. Nothing progression-wise is lost when you move to another platform, as everything else is kept across them. I have to copy my settings between my laptop and desktop all the time, and this is also why I don't use my PS3 copy much (I don't want to have to set all this up again).

-- I think if you do the one-way transfer, you will want to buy another PS3 copy. The transfer effectively turns your PS3 copy into a PS4 copy. If you want to play both, buy the PS4 version without transferring (though you may have to set up your UI and gearsets again).

-- All versions that have and ever will exist will have these, as they are account-bound.

So basically, it seems your issue was thinking what you do is tied to the PS3 version. It is not. It is all cross-platform and you will lose nothing going to the PS4 version without transferring, or even the Windows version if you chose to, other than your UI settings and gearsets, as these are stored locally, and can easily (yet tediously) be re-set.

    Basically it works like this.
When you buy a game and register the code, you are given Play Access Right to play on what ever system you bought the game for. Any system you want to play the game on your account need Play Access Right for it.

When you go for the upgrade PS3>PS4, they are basically stripping your Play Access Rights for the PS3 and giving you it for the PS4.

Your characters and everything else is account bound, its useable on any system you have Play Access Rights to.

That said , they say the if you want to on both PS3 and PS4 you need to not use the free upgrade and Buy the PS4 version. So using the upgrade might permanently lock you out of playing on the PS3, even if you buy it again for that system.

Ok, Highlanderx summarizes it a lot better than I did.

I can't see the upgrade locking you out of the PS3 version even if you repurchased it though. That doesn't seem like good idea.

Basically by upgrading to the ps4 version, your ps3 version becomes unusable. The cd key registered to that CD was binded to your account, by transfering to PS4, it is basically removing the PS3 cd key and turning it into a PS4 cd key. You can play the same account on both systems from what I understand, but you would need to purchase another copy. Same way as those of us that play on PC, can still play our characters on PS3 if we purchase a copy for it and register that key to our account.

You can play on both systems.

true but instead of a CD-key, its a PSN code that redeems like a PSN purchase of the game and you can't buy the same thing twice off of PSN

But SE said to play on both you need, to not upgrade and buy a PS4 copy.

    That could be because
    1. the PS4 version costs more money and they are just trying to get you to pay more.
    2. Because of the way PSN works and how they are doing the upgrade, buying and redeeming a 2nd PSN copy won't be possible.
