Chat Log Disappearing

I am not sure if this is a bug, option, face rolling on too many keys at a time, or what.. I am interested if anyone else has had, or is having this issue. Last night every time I would enter the chat log (press enter, /, alt+r, etc.) and then either send a message, or even just hit "escape" key to back out, it would totally remove my whole chat log. The only way I found to bring it back was to log out and back in.

Is there an option somewhere for displaying/removing the chat log? As far as I am aware this isn't even a possibility. Once gone, I am unable to re-enter the chat via normal methods (press enter, /, alt+r, etc.). If I do not enter the chat log at all, it stays there and updates to all shouts/fc/ls/tell/etc. and I am able to switch through different tabs without issue.

Only programs I had running in the background were Ventrilo and my web browser. No one in my FC seemed to be having the issue, and all were scratching their heads at a way to re-display or even remove the chat log to begin with. Completely exiting the client and coming back in did nothing, beyond re-displaying it like logout just FYI.. I'm not sure if this is an actual bug or something related to my local settings. Any help much appreciated, as well as confirmation from others this has happened to.

I had this problem in very very first beta. hitting enter normally would bring it back up, just resized to ... well as big as a postage stamp.
Does the log also not open (I dont know if you tried) when pressing alt+l, alt+f, alt+s and so on?
You can try and look into the character setting where also the profanity filter is, I think there is an option to hide the chat log, but I aint 100% sure

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately pressing buttons like enter, alt+l, alt+r and all those fun things doesn't bring it back up. It completely disappears and I am unable to see or type anything in game to the outside world. I did check in the chat log area for an option but didn't see any, I remember seeing the profanity filter there as well so it is the area you are mentioning. I tried googling it but couldn't find any posted problems/fixes, only a thing or two from beta kind of like you mentioned.

I at first looked through keybinds and different things but there was no option for removal/displaying the chat log. I realized it only happened when I tried to enter in text or escape out of it, so I tried looking for other options. I found one for "Escape" that brings down other elements. I didn't test that one.. but it wouldn't help my problem when I actually "Enter" in to send off text. Also would be annoying for closing menus, lol.

I've never heard of anyone else having such a problem, nor have I encountered it myself. The last time I encountered something similar was during the beta (mid-late Phase 2, I believe) where the screen would go all black but the UI would still be visible.

Hmmmm... strange... Thanks for the reply Nosh. Judging by the replies/views on thread with no one having the issue, I'll consider it some sort of personal problem, lol. I'll try defaulting some things and filing an in-game ticket for the issue if necessary.
