Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh

So if SE plan to have Gilgamesh be a reoccurring character in FF14ARR through some kind of strange comedy side-quest Storyline do you think they will use this long saga to finally explain how Gilgamesh becomes Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh in FFVIII?

(Note: because of the void time is different for Gilgamesh. Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh is Gilgamesh after he has finally obtained Excalibur at some point in his time frame but during the time gap he has lost 3 of his 8 arms.

Not many people know about him unless they have played the FF series for a long time.

However, Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh been out since FFVIII and we have yet to get any lore about how Gilgamesh obtained Excalibur finally and how did he lose 3 of his 8 arms and how did he obtained those fake arms.

Considering only FFVIII featured him as a summon spell - the rest of his canon appearances have been as a hidden antagonist/optional boss battle outside the main story, I doubt very much he'll be made a pseudo-Primal-egi for SMN, sorry. He's actually part of the Hildibrand quest line and will feature in it until it's resolution, and then that would be it.

And FFV clearly explained how Gil ended up in FFVIII's world - when Seifer destroyed Odin Zantesuken ruptured the 'dimensional interval' to the Void where he had been trapped since the end of FFV, thus freeing him. Hence why in FFVIII he just simply came and went - he wasn't a summon truly but more just a wandering fighter looking for worthy opponents.

I know he is part of Hildibrand Quest but I was just being a bit less descriptive since there are still people not reaching Hildibrand's quest yet.

It is actually explained through Gilgamesh's countless appearance that he eventually leanred to use the Void to travel into different worlds and also that due to the Void Time flows differently for him. Due to this his appearance in FF games are not in order of Gilgamesh's time frame.

All other appearances, except for FFVIII, is Pre-Excalibur Gilgamesh which is before he obtained Excalibur. FFVIII is Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh which is the timeframe when Gilgamesh has already obtained Excalibur.

FF14 Gilgamesh will be Pre-Excalibur Gilgamesh so in FF14ARR it is still in the timeframe when Gilgamesh did not obtain Excalibur yet.

Gilgamesh ultimate goal in life and reason for collecting weapons of his defeated enemies is because he is searching for the legendary sword Excalibur which is known to be the most powerful sword in existance. However, during Pre-Excalibur Gilgamesh time frame he has failed countless times to obtain Excalibur because everytime he thinks he has found Excalibur it turns out to be a fake called Excalipoor which is a extremely weak weapon that does only 1 damage no matter what.
