Allow Updates in the Launcher even if you don't have an active subscription...

Hi, i don't know if this is the right place to post this but i couldn't find any suggestions or requests categories in the forum...

As the title says ... Allow the game to Update even if you don't have your subscription active ... my subscription is not currently active and if i try to log in it says that my sub is not active but it doesn't let me update or anything .. i find that very bad. I'm used to open my MMO launchers and update the game .. that way when i finally pay my subscription i can start playing right away and don't need to wait for updates .. which may take away part of the time paid .. because of slow connections .. Please, please, PLEASE!! allow the updater to update the game even if i'm not logged in or if i have to log in .. instead of giving me the message about not having a subscription, gray out my PLAY button and proceed to update the game..

okay ... looks like no one cares about this ... not even support ... :/ ... makes me very "happy" with this game .. makes me "want to keep paying" ... yes i'm being sarcastic ... :S

You're not likely to get any reply from SE on this forum.
At best the thread will be moved to "Being Adressed/Currently Reviewing".

I also wouldn't expect them to allow updates without having an active sub at this time.

oh .. so you're telling me that their support forum doesn't do support? ... also .. as i said allowing to update without an active sub will make me able to play the game right away when i sub .. but if i spend for example 1yr without paying my sub and then decide to come back to the game .. if i pay my sub i'll loose a couple of days cause i need to catch up to 1yr of updating.. wich is bad .. and makes me not want to pay my sub anymore.

Technical Support Forum, as in your client won't start all or you are experiencing errors and glitches. You want Feedback Forum (where they take suggestions).

And to be honest, they are under no obligation to let users who are not paying for a service to use the service. (ex. downloading content they can't play because they aren't paying). Unless there's a free trial involved, I am hard pressed to think of any Pay-to-Play games that allow you to download the game before purchasing it.

I didn't knew about the User Support as this is the official SE forum i thought they'd have specific support moderators or something... now speaking about the "obligation" and "hard to think of any Pay to play games that allow you to download the game before purchasing it" ... there are major companies like Blizzard or TRION that'll let you download their clients before you buy them ..BUT that's not what i'm saying .. i PAYED for the GAME and i downloaded the client .. i only want to keep THAT PAYED CLIENT updated .. even if i'm not paying .. and this is something that TRION (before f2p), Blizzard, BioWare/EA lets you do. The options is to update the client but most of this clients block you from hitting PLAY or have an announcement or a pop up in game that tells you you can't login unless you pay your sub or that your sub is expired .. but still they let me keep my client updated.

This is my case .. i play a lot of MMOs but i don't like to pay them all at the same time .. on month i could be playing The Secret World the other WoW, the other Rift, then DC universe online, Then FFXIV, then TERA, etc.. you see what i'm saying is .. as a gamer i like to play a variety of games .. so i keep my launchers/clients updated so that i can move quickly every month to another game ... and in all my options .. FFXIV is the ONLY one that doesn't let me keep it updated because i have no active sub.

For more direct input/support to/from SE, need to use the bug report/feedback sections or generate a ticket at the support portal.

Think I've seen it update some stuff prior to logging in before. Just usually short ones, and then there would be the larger one after logging in. Some users will periodically post packed files of updated files at forums linked to the partner sites. They won't always be the latest update, but typically go up right after the really big updates so they can still knock out a considerable chunk of the process.

Those updates are usually the FFXIV Boot update for launcher. The game client update only comes after you've logged in.

yup .. just launcher updates .. you still get the "big" updates when you log in. Which i can't do.

well, at least that is updating the client. Kind of makes sense though... if you aren't subscribing, you don't get the updates to the content until you start subscribing again. After all, the subscriptions are more or less what supports those updates.
