i believe alot of the complaints about the current system have alot to do with people using a controller and not having correct information on how to set them up. there are still button commands i do not know how to do using it. i found a few people in the last thread that did not know the button to open your emote menu did multiple things including toggle aoe off and on, stacking spells in battle regimen, and opening the emote window.
i was more looking at why people wanted the change and why people wanted it. i've seen a few that voted for the change and their only reason was they didn't have to check to see if it was aoe or not because the icon is not showing all the time. that would be an easy fix to show that instead of removing the system.
my vote was to keep it the same as it is, but i cannot vote on my own thread. i just feel that a few tweaks would work better than completely removing it. i don't like change for the sake of change moves. i don't see any benefits to this. i would love to see it stay with a few revisions on it.
1. have the aoe toggle show on your bar for the mage. a green circle icon on your bar that is greyed out for aoe off and one that is lit there when it is on. that would be a simple fix and a constant visual reminder so you can always see if aoe is off or on.
2. i'd like to see the bar do like when you use spiritbind it cuts half your mp it takes to cast a spell. let it show on your bar while casting. if you are in aoe on mode you can see the cost as normal, but if aoe is off you can visually see they cost less to use in your bar.
to me a few simple fixes would be the easiest way to fix the problems people have with the issue. it's also why i chose to keep the system as is. to me it's just easier for the devs to make a few fixes inside a system than it is to make all new icons for each spell and hurt mages in the long run later.
