    Just wanted to necro this to make all of those on Verizon aware of what is really the issue (because the majority of complaints lately do seem to be from people using that service provider).

    Check this article for some information on difficulties being experienced by Cogent and Verizon that can very well be affecting your ability to play FFXIV.

    Regardless of who the blame falls under. I still to this day continue opening tickets with Verizon every week as it is really all I can do.

    There is one thing SE can do. Put data centers in North america.

    Then American players would definitely see reduced latency.

    Sure, because taking the servers down for a week or two in order to move them would go over soooo much better. -_-

    Side note, have people going through level 3 seen an improvement in their service lately? As I recall level3 completely crapped out last week requiring emergency repairs and I was wondering if they may have fixed the problem for level 3 customers permanently.

    In general I haven't been too bad even during most peak hours, however Titan HM last night helping a friend I R0'd 3 times, got kicked from the server, and experienced huge amounts of lag in general about 10 minutes into the instance. I suppose it could be possible, though I haven't investigated, that the lag primarily occurs when connecting to an instance server, which I assume is separate from a regular server. BC I noticed no issues, a spike here and there but pretty stable.

    The other possibility is that Level-3, because it cannot handle the amount of information, is limiting those with access to communications to the data center. I believe the data solutions center will kick players if the connection is horrendous enough, which extreme packet loss would induce. So Level-3 limitations -> Ormuco Data Center kick.

    But I don't actually know for sure haha

    Anyway, the NA/EU servers are on Montreal right now, that's pretty close to most NA players. A lot further for EU players...

    For me at least, yes. Of course not for everyone, but I know a lot of people who left the game or is leaving when the suscription ends and one of the reasons is the high latency we have now.

    They don't care. It may no be cost effective depending on how mush their ISP charges..

    They are a company it's all about profit. Never forget that. The subscriptions they lose may be worth it in their eyes if they are paying a small amount for their ISP compared to other ISP's they can use.
