Fate healing

I'm new at this game, only just reached lvl 50.

When you join a fate, I can't select most of the other players to heal them?

I'm playing on ps3 and no matter what I press on the pad I can't target to heal?

I end up having to watch people die when I could be keeping them alive and ending the fate sooner, what am I doing wrong?

It's because of the default setting of targetting on PS3. You can fix this by going into your main menu -> last tab (can't remember what it's called) -> character configuration -> targetting. It's default set to toggle through party members only (and this does include party pets). You can customize your settings so that you can target whoever you want in/ out of battle. :3

When you're weapon is out, the default is set so that you can only select Party Members and Enemies, so you'll either have to do what SulwynCaliope says or just sheath your weapon by pressing the left joystick in.
