This game feels more like a RPG then a MMORPG!

FC is not the answer, name 1 thing you need help with in this game when you level 1 to 50? You can't because there isn't anything. I had a full friends list in FFXI before I hit level 75. Because of getting help and helping other people. This game is very anti social.

I recall FFXI partying was forced. You had to party or you couldn't progress. Now in FFXIV it's not forced, you can progress being anti social if you want. There's nothing stopping you from being social in FFXIV, you just need to put the effort into it now.

the problem has more to do with 1) most people play using duty finder, so most the people you meet dont care who they are with in general and the other half know these people are on different servers...so who cares. Duty finder took away a big reason older gamer like XI had such strong communitys. You first needed to play with people for most content unlike here and secondly you had to play with the people on your server, so you had to play nice or you would get ousted by the community.

2) the game doesnt really bother to promote group content unless its pretty much an instance (majority which is primals and 1-2-3 linear boss dungeons) which once again throws it back to #1 because you can do everything with strangers you will likely never see again. Back in FFXI you had to group to level, so you met people there, group for endgame (usualy with large amounts of people needed) and when your even doing your own thing when a person helped (raised you because death means something, or healed/protected you, or helped with a mission/quest) it was a big help, where as here you can do just about everything just as effectively alone, help really isnt needed.

Don't know what OP is doing but I have tonnes of people I group with on my friends list and talk to. I also have an active FC that always has chatter. As for general world, it can be a little dead at times which is sad, but there's no reason you can't start the conversation and make friends.
