I posted this in Classes&Jobs forum but his might be a better place for it...
I got the idea for these from Cid and our friends from the Garlean Empire.
Weapon: Cannon-Gauntlets: Big, bulky gauntlets that are worn on the user's off-hand, similar to the one Cid wears, allowing the user use of their main-hand for delicate work. Housed inside is a small aether-cannon, similar to Gaius'. Ranged when faraway from a targeted enemy, physical when up-close (and weaker). Designed as more of a defense tool then an actual offensive weapon.
Tinker [TNK]:
A support-DPS class, they use both gadgets and special cannon-shells in battled for various effects. Their skills are TP based.
Some of the gadgets could include:
-Astra Generator: Sets up a triangular AoE on the ground around themselves that will give any party member that steps within it the Astra buff, which will absorb one debuff, and then disappear.
-Brave Generator: Sets up a circular AoE on the ground around themselves that boost physical attack for any party member within
-Vanish Unit: Places an Invisibility effect on the target
Some Cannon-Shells could include:
-Black Out Shell: Place a Blind status effect on target
-Mortar Shell: Launches an AoE to a designated area
-Molotov Shell: Launches an AoE to a designated area that places a Burn DoT effect on any enemy in it
-Repair: Allows the Tinkerer to repair their own and others equipment during battle.
Teacher: Ayoyo Ayo, Ballistics and Tech expert and current Overseer/babysitter for the Garlond Ironworks' Gridanian recruitment center, in New Gridania.
Story:
In order to better arm Eorzea and nurture a more peaceful future, good-old Cid has opened up the Garlond Ironworks to new recruits in Gridania. You will first be instructed to introduce yourself to the current Overseer, Ayoyo Ayo, a gruff, no-nonsense Shefell, who will fling a barrage of insults your way before asking: "Do you think you have the chops for being among Eorzea's most brightest, most talented, and, most-likely, craziest?" The Tinker questline will first start out with you testing new gadgets and "liberating" some tech from Garlean troops through out the three nations, until you and Ayoyo catch wind of a new Garlean weapon and its dark connection to the Ironworks...
Mechanist [MEC] (TNK+ACN)
XIV's Puppetmaster class . A Pet-DPS class that focuses on augmenting mechanical Automatons with specialized parts. Automatons get their own equipscreen, where you can change what type of Frame (which determines the Automatons skills and look) and parts you are using, with a total of 9 part-slots (two arm, two head, three body, one leg, and one crystal core). Automatons have their own MP/TP called CP (Crystal points), which comes from their Crystal Core. Parts can be crafted by Alchemist, Blacksmiths, Goldsmiths, and Armorers or found in Dungeons. Parts can also come in HQ. Cross-class abilities are Arcanist and Archer. Their skills are TP-based.
Skill Ideas:

Any effect that was placed on the battlefield by the Automaton will disappear when the frame is switch, while any effect placed on a target will remain.
5. Vetriloquy: Switches aggro from Mechanist to Automaton and vice-versa.
6. Energy Siphon: Absorbs 10% of your Automatons HP and converts it to CP. Automaton must be in range for this to work.
7. Overclock: Increases Automaton's damage/healing power by 50% for 10 seconds. After 15 seconds, they gain the "Overheated" debuff that lowers their action speed by 50% for 1 minute. Overheated can not be removed by spell/skill/item.

Having now expertise in the the field, Ayoyo mention an old acquaintance that specializes in robotics and automatons, Laughing Sky, who had left the Ironworks to pursue a career in show-business in his home town, Ul'dah, and sends you to get his his appraisal. Upon traveling to the Steps of Nald, you will find Laughing Sky, entertaining a small crowd, who aren't very entertained, with his automatons. Once the last of the audience leaves, Laughing Sky will approach you and will begin some technobabble about his automatons, until he notices that you are beginning to doze off. You will then explain that Ayoyo sent you, which will trigger him to begin go through a lengthy remembrance of his time in the Ironworks and how prosperous it was with his admittance to it. He'll once again noticed that you are beginning to doze off again, digress, and examine the rusted automaton. It seems it can be brought back to working condition, IF a master were to repair it, which, lucky for you, Laughing Sky is, he only needs you to do the legwork and collect all the necessary materials and parts, while he preps it. He will send you to his old colleague, Serendipity, at the Goldsmith's Guild, with a list of the needed material. Upon bringing the list to Serendipity and telling her that Laughing Sky sent you, she will moaningly remember him and give her condolences but will tell you that, while she would love to help with such a historical piece, said materials would cost a hefty amount, and ops for a trade, she will give you what you need, if you go and collect some crystal from a strong but rare monster, Starryknight, in Eastern Thanalan's Burning Wall. Once the trade is done, head back to Laughing Sky to find that Ayoyo is has arrived and is verbally chewing him up. Laughing Sky misses the point of what she is saying and laughs until he notices you with the goods. He praises you for your work, stats that everything is ready for the reconstruction, and invites you and Ayoyo to help. You smile and nod, while Ayoyo begrudgingly agrees. Cut to a photo-montage of you three doing the repairs, with a bunch of silly mishaps happening. We then return back to real time, all three of you out of breath, Sky leaning against a wall, Ayoyo clenching her knees and complaining about how hard Laughing Sky made it, and you sprawled out on the floor, in a daze. The door behind Sky opens. The Automaton pirouettes out, followed by a sunburst effect and fanfair, and hold it's position, as the three of you look at it confused. Ayoyo snaps back to reality first, remembering why she was there in the first place, and begins to chew Laughing Sky out again, who is til staring at the automaton confused, until you calm her down. Noticing that Sky still isn't paying attention, she hits him over the head with a large, ancient tome, in a comedic fashion, bring him back to reality. He begins to excitedly exclaim about the automatons craftsmenship and his genius, until Ayoyo hits him again. She then explains that the tome she has been hitting him with another automaton near where they discovered this one. It's filled with various blueprints and text about automatons! Laughing Sky starts to get giddy and begins rapidly technobabbling about the text's mastery and how he and he alone is qualified for such information, until Ayoyo hits him again, this time knocking him out and knocking out a gemstone that was on the cover of the book. She then turns to you, you wince. She suggests that you take the automaton for some field-testing and that she will leave the tome with Sky to decode, how is now snoring. She places it upon his stomach, pats him on the head, and walks off. You then see the automaton pick up the crystal and try to hand it to you. You take the crystal and it begins to glow as the automaton begins to clap in excitement. Its the Mechanist Soul Gem. The Mechanist questline will you learning more about the origin of your automaton with Laughing Sky, silly antics and all.

Teacher: Cornell, a jovial but mysterious Hyur who is in need of an tech-savvy adventurer, found in Costa del Sol.
Backstory:
Upon completing the Tinkerer questline and getting Conjurer to level 15, Ayoyo will mention a request sent from Costa del Sol about a lost, Garlean weapon. This will lead you to an odd Hyur, Cornell, relaxing on the beach, fruity drink and scantly-clad Miqo'te in hand. After his pleasantries, he will present a file about the mad, Garlean inventor, Agrippa Van Iovita, and the last invention she created before fleeing the Empire, and asks you to investigate while he deals more "rigorous" issues (while he stares at some Miqo'te playing in the water). Your investigation leads you to the Western part of Upper La Noscea, to fight a giant, garish robot. Upon betting the robot, you will be lead to where Agrippa's resting place lies, along with her last invention, the Pandorica, one of her old tomes, and the Gadgeteer Soul Gem. Return to Costa del Sol to give Cornell the tome and Pandorica. His jubilation at getting the olden tech will be short-lived, as he discovers he has no idea how it works, until he rolls a 4, causing the Pandorica to use Joker's Death, which gives everyone a good fright. He then tosses the Pandorica to you and looks at the tome. He begins to read it aloud, with it talking about other tomes hidden in various locations with instructions on how to use the device. However, it seems the locations are hidden in various riddles, cyphers, and puzzles in the tome. So Cornell makes you a deal, he will leave the Pandorica with you, for now, while he deciphers the locations of the tomes for you to go get for him. You agree. He then says that you should get acquainted with the device, while he begins decoding...later, he has a beach to enjoy! The Gadgeteer questline will be you going to where ever Cornell sends you, learning about the Pandorica, its zany creator, her escape from the Empire, and about your patron's connection to it all.
Sorry if the jobs seem to complex, convoluted, and/or broken. >A>()
