My understanding of PS4 Beta

I was wondering if I buy a ps4 edition and register will I be able to log on to my account from both ps3 and ps4 simultaneously? I ask because my son has made a character on my account. Or would he have to start over and pay 2 subs?

ok so if i buy a PS4 game i can keep playing on PS3 , but if i upgrade my PS3 version i lose the ability to play PS3?

That is correct, once you switch to the PS4 (Free Upgrade) then you are tied to it.
During the beta phase (at least phase 1) you should still be able to play both on the PS3 and PS4

You can not play on two charaters on the same account at the same time. Never have been able to do this even in FFXI.

So if you and your son use the same login and password to play FFXIV one of you has to make a new account and thus a new character.

You can play 2 character on the same account at the same time, you just cannt do it on same data center. I play on PC and have the ps3 my nephew play on ps3 on the jp servers same time as me on my account.

Wow, why do they remove PS3 access if you upgrade? That seems extremely unfair. I'm honestly pretty angry that they're doing this. So much for the "free" upgrade.

That is correct once you upgrade ur PS3 version to the PS4 version you can no longer play on PS3.
