The game is new so it's relatively small until expansions...but I think what the OP was getting at is there is a lack of open world content. Although I enjoy the game myself & play it daily, I agree with the OP.

Let's be honest with ourselves...if you have done one FATE, you have done them all. Don't give me that "nuh-uh, they are different" speech either because they really aren't. Each zone mirrors each other in FATE styles with variations in level, mobs & names...other than that, the same. If you have leveled more than 1 job to 50 prior to 2.1...you were praising SE for the dungeon XP boost so that you didn't have to do FATEs as often.

Quests...you can run out of these...trust me. As for the daily beastmen tribe quests, once you max rank both factions, you don't care to repeat the exact same quests over and over again for minimal rewards. The only time these are really useful is when you get another class to lvl 42 and want the xp for a few days until you hit 50.

Treasure Maps are closer to the type of content it needs but nowhere near enough as they stand. You can only harvest one a day if you don't want to buy them...they last very little time & yield fairly poor rewards. I do like them as they remind me a bit of popped NM fights from XI which were fun (no real camping needed, just get several pops and have yourself an afternoon trying for rare rewards & challenging fights)...but they just aren't very hard & again, don't offer much for rewards.

Everything being a push of the button away is nice, but there should be more options like that of the treasure maps for people who want it. Also, the lack of open world dungeons/castles is sad. Zones like Castle Vahzl Baileys, Sky, Sea, etc. are what a lot of people want (with more purpose to them of course). Places like that where you could teleport one zone away, but not inside the stronghold are great. Gives people something to explore, scales difficulty depending on how deep you travel in, & increases the odds of finding rare rewards.

At any rate, it's early in the game's life & SE proved with FFXI that they do know how to make a long lasting & entertaining game...we just have to keep voicing what we want & have faith that they will deliver. I expect a ton of awesome changes & additions to hit us with the first expansion...so I am being patient and just running with what we have now.
