Nah, I single tank the adds at atomos usually too. Only way its an issue is if the rest of your group isn't good, which is rare, most groups can handle it just fine. (There are those random really terrible CT runs though)How poorly geared must you be to not be able to tank the Atamos adds by yourself...It's a waste to switch tanks.
Unless your crawling in there with the utterly minimal item level one tank should be perfectly fine holding all the adds while the other tank focuses on ending the fight quicker. It must be because I'm on a Japanese server but sometimes NA strategies are hillariously complex when they don't need to be.
Where is this a generally accepted strategy? Those adds have no HP when they pop already. Even with decent gear you can just get the healers to regen pull them and have most DPS on boss. The generally accepted strategy for that fight is to have each tank take turns pulling the adds as they spawn, so that the group of ranged dps in the back and focus target on one while the other is held by a tank. If you were making the guy tank all of the adds, not keeping hate on anything, and trying to dps, I can see why you were kicked.
In the dozens of times ive run CT I have NEVER seen this strategy, and im usually healing so I know what tank is tanking and which one is dpsing Atomos.

I agree that we're (BRD) some of the lowest dmg in the game, but should be able to keep up and contribute without issue. I know on boss fights, I can get up to about 100k dmg dealt per fight. I've found that BRDs and SMN's don't mix as well in some dungeons.I was literally just kicked from Haukke Manor HM because i apparently wasn't killing the adds fast enough when the summoner in full allagan didn't help at all. I understand bards are the lowest dps atm even with almost all Ilvl 90 gear, but seriously people need to say something so it can be fixed. or else it will just make the person feel bad about themselves when they did nothing wrong.

I got kicked from a Titan HM DF run on one of my first attempts. Was going for my WHM Relic and I wasn't the only new person in it. Fight goes relatively well but a couple DPS got knocked off, wipe on heart. Same deal next attempt. 3rd or 4th try we get past heart, but I get knocked off by a landslide or get hit by a bunch of plumes and die (I forget which, was my first time past heart phase) when Titan was at about 1/4 health. Almost won the fight, but wiped, so I get booted for being a "crappy WHM". Similar thing happened in my 2nd DF run, except instead of kick it was abandon.
Never been vote kicked (crosses fingers and toes) and have kicked a few tanks that just wen't afk in CT and Pharo's.
oh and one for harassment in Titan HM. It was sad, we all tried to get him to co-operate but then he said if you don't vote kick me i'll just jump off ledge or something like that...so we kicked him...that one was sad![]()
I am a winner, even though I sometimes fail.
On my WHM/SCH whilst leveling ~ definitely.
Tank raged whenever he's down to 1 mob and there's another group nearby and I pulled.
Considering the fact we had a monk + blm, to my knowledge, would be pretty awesome to have constant flow of mobs.
*cough* not like anyone died or even got to 25% health.
Then came DD. Ranged enemies agro'ed me as it was away from party and out of purple glow area. Fluid aura did the trick nicely to push it right next to the tank or at least in rage of Flash/OP.
He raged again. Don't push mobs next to me.
I pulled a doge and got kicked. Such tank. Much fear. Very tank. So wow.
The thing I hate the most on my healer is 'careful'/'scared' tanks. Confidence goes along way, if you can't play it as confident as a DPS then don't play it. (Which is why I don't, I don't have the mindset for tanking, so I stay away from it).
Back when 2.1 first went live I saw it all the time. Every run. More recently though I never see it, with second tank on panel if you're lacking ranged, or smacking atomos.
Only time I was ever kicked was once in stone vigil when I was levelling my WHM. The party had wiped once earlier in the dungeon due to my error, and then in one of those optional side rooms full of the aevis the tank seemed determined to charge in rather than pulling them out. Ran around like a ble arsed fly inside the room though and los'ed me mid cast just as they ganked him. I apologized and explained why it had happened, at which point he started getting mouthy and telling me to be careful I didnt los in this corridor, and generally talking down at me, so I stopped healing him and let him drop.
Got booted, but then reqeued and got right back into same group. Told them all to suck it up and get on with it as we were there at final boss door. One of the dps decided to quip that there was a good chance we'd die. I proceeded to heal that boss like a... boss lol. Dodged every single aoe while keeping everyone topped off and raising the dps when they blundered into the aoe spam of doom.
