Pessimistic vs. Optimistic Atmosphere?

I have a bad feeling about where this thread is going...
:P

There was a thread last week about forum behavior. It got axed for some reason, so NO ONE TALK ABOUT IT!
And there are a few threads where people posted something like "I just have to say I love this game!" but they usually get buried quickly.
In general I think it is mostly that the forum posts are just when people really feel they have something to say .. which is usually when someone is upset/bothered about something rather than generally pleased.

For what it's worth, you have my word that this thread wasn't aimed at starting a deliberate debate or getting on someone's nerves.

And there are a few threads where people posted something like "I just have to say I love this game!" but they usually get buried quickly.

Interesting. I don't seem to happen upon those threads, but I'll take your word for it.

There is nothing wrong with telling SE that following a generic clone will fail them instead of sticking to Final Fantasy Route.

I always thought it was because the ones who complain and stuff dont get the time of day. so the only way they can even hope to get anyone to pay attention is to post it as a thread. You know with those "THE GAME IS GOING TO DIE" threads and "SE DOESNT UNDERSTAND GAMES"

Its probably a combination though. I check the forums for dev updates mostly, Cuz outside the devs its usually just full of whining. I do look for those good threads with meme's and friendly talk.. problem is, to do that you must navigate through the minefield. Tread carefully my friend.

I find that the world is what we make it. The forums also.

Even when I find a negative thread, I find that there are always ways to approach it and see the positive in it. Even the threads where people are upset about something in a game, it's pretty easy to see that they're upset because they were and still are fond enough of the game to feel let down in the first place and then to want to improve it. Even the people that outright hate the game and want to leave you kinda have to be happy for in a way. If they really hate it, it's good that they're leaving. They're not having fun and I wouldn't wish that on anyone in this context. This will be much better for them and they'll be happier for it and those that love it will be able to continue on quite happily without all of the negative rolling in.

I know that's some serious mental gymnastics there, but I find it makes me a lot less stressed and unhappy about the forums and life in general to look at it this way.
