why are you not able to transfer items and money to your other characters by mail its quite pointless having more than one character if you cant even send anything to them. its on all the other MMO games I play so why not this

Agreed. Lots of mmos have account-wide banks, etc. Why not FFXIV? As of right now, all we can do is trade things back and forth through a friend. It works, but what about the people who don't have close friends like that?
I'd be happy with the ability to send friend requests to offline characters (which would then let you make friends with your other characters and send mail to them), even if it's just restricted to sending friend requests to offline characters who are members of your free company. (Ideally, I'd rather have that option without the restriction, simply so that if a real life friend starts playing and wants to add my character to his friends list, I'd like him to have the ability to send the request at his own pace, rather than making sure I'm online at the time.)
Supposedly it's to "fight the dirty RMTers!!1!1!!" but in reality it does jack squat to combat RMT (who have multiple accounts and thus can very easily get around any mail restrictions) but does a lot to inconvenience legitimate players (who do not tend to have more than one account).
Personally, I find their reasoning to be bullshit and think we should be allowed to mail to characters on our account.
