PS4 beta test

If I owned a PS4 I would be doing it. But given the lack of games for the system at the moment, I'm planning to wait a bit. I'll probably get one in May.

There are, frankly, not enough games that interest me for the PS4 to allow me to justify, even just to myself, the purchase of one. Knack looks interesting, and then some games that are not yet released, and won't be for a while.

Much as I'd love to get a PS4 expressly for FF14, however, I do not see the game lasting me long enough. While it certainly is fun, leveling all the combat jobs to 50 and getting their relics, after I've gotten that done, unless there is something else worthwhile that will take a while to accomplish, I do not see myself sticking around too long. And that in turn means that I cannot really use FF14 as "a game I'm interested in" when it comes to justifying the purchase of a PS4.

I currently own PC/PS3 - never play PS3 however due to how bad it is.. But I will definitely spend a day checking out the beta to see how it compares to PC.

Interesting. You claim it's bad while you admit to never have played it.

Actually, PS3 version is pretty good apart from longer loading times on cutscenes.

I will be playing the Beta and making a new character...I will not be working very hard on it as it is just a bets and nothing will be kept. I do want to see how the controls are different and know it inside out so that when I play "for real" on my "normal" character I am not missing a beat and am right back into action. The only problem I have with the PS3 version is like the other poster said....longer load times...I hate being in CT or Primals and someone from my FC is calling out what the loot drop is and I am still loading the freaking screen. Other than that I love playing on the PS3...cannot wait for this. When do we get to download the client for PS4...anyone know this????

I'll be playing in the beta as well... I want to see the first 15 levels in both Uldah and Limsa with one of those classes so that's what I'll use the beta for hehe. But once we can play with our mains on it I'm switching.

I plan on participating. I wish they would release more of a set in stone schedule though. Are they going to do it like the game's beta where it's a "play for one weekend then drop the server for two weeks" or a little more continuous beta where they let us play for week or more without interrupt? If the beta is only a couple of days, it may not even be worth participating.

I'm definitely going to check it out since the PS4 isn't doing anything but collecting dust at the moment. Not so excited about starting a new character that I won't ever play again, but still looking forward to all it's next gen glory lol

I love playing on ps3, though I occasionally play on pc when the ol ps3 isn't running too well.

Yeah, I'm looking froward to my PS4 Beta invite. I'd say it's no longer really the beginning of Feb so I'm hoping we will get new info regarding the release of the Beta soon. I am signed up to SE with a hotmail account, and hope I don't experience the same fiasco I did with my original lack of Beta invites for 1.0 and 2.0.

I don't think they are sending out invites, I think that anyone who wants to do it is allowed.

As for me - I don't own a PS4 because I literally play no video games besides FF14 at all. Sometimes the RNG and the doom and gloomers get me down about this game and I think about playing a different game, but then I think about going back to playing on PC and that bums me out. The #1 thing I love about FFXIV is that you can play on counsels. Its amazing. PS3 is pretty gimped, but I probably won't waste time on PS4 Beta until I can spend my time working on my real chars. I just barely have enough time to squeeze into FF14 to call it a full blown addiction as it is!
