    Bad "alt" Players

in the last couple of weeks i have seen a spike in the number of just purely bad players on my server. im not talking about people being bad at dodging or unfamiliar with dungeons/bosses. i am talking warriors who dont know what infuriate or their wrath stacks do. summoners getting out dps'd by paladins. scholars that let their pets burn all their abilities at the start of a fight. monks who stand in front of mobs while dpsing. black mages that just spam whatever random spell they feel like with no regard to their umbral ice/fire or mp and everything in between. people who dont even have the most basic understanding of their class or its abilities.

many of these people claim to be on "alt" classes, but i dont find that to be a legitimate excuse. did you people not read your skills as you lvled up just because its an alt? why bother lvling the job and gearing it out at all if you arent going to make an attempt to at least halfway understand what you are doing?

maybe having such an easy lvling system isnt such a good thing after all, i mean can i really hold these people accountable for being shitty at their job when it took them less than 72 hours to reach max lvl and start attempting the hardest content in the game?

anyone else noticing this or having equally bad luck with other players lately?

this wouldnt bother me as much in a low lvl dungeon or a fate pt, and if they are just lvling a job for the cross class skills then i suppose they can be free to be a little bit lazy. but my post is mainly concerning those in the lvl 50 crowd. im encountering these people in ex primals, coil, HM dungeons and other places where knowing your class thoroughly will make or break the encounter

How am I supposed to read the skills I get when I level up when I've allready gained another level before I can even get to my character screen and read it?

I can check what my new skill does while in battle and the only negative is missing 1 attack in the time it takes to bring up menu, go to actions, highlight it, read it, spam cancel button until back into battle. You have ZERO excuse for being so freakin' "insert bannable comment here."

Some people don't know how to do their job, some people FATE gridned and still have no idea how their job works.
You can attempt to fix it for them and offer advice (This is always a possibility, I was able to teach two JP players how to play BLM perfectly using only auto-translate.)

(This may happen in the duty finder a lot)

In my case, I have everything leveled to 50 from 1.0, so do a lot of other players on my server. I knew how to play them all perfectly in 1.0, in 2.0 I haven't a clue how half of them work anymore.

Trying to help people usually works best instead of "OH MY GOD SO CRAP! GET OUT"

Leveling doesn't teach people how to play classes. Never has, never will. It doesn't matter how quickly, or how long, it takes one to get to max level it still won't teach the person how to play their current class/ job. Some of them are too lazy to be bothered to read up on the the abilities of a particular class, but a few just might be on a streak and haven't bothered trying out some of the new skills that they've acquired. The latter will always be willing to read (afterwards) once pointed in the right direction.

Though it didn't take me long to figure out the whole Umbral Fire/Ice thing (plus Transpose once I got it) while leveling Thamaturge on both of my Miqo'te.

I disagree, If there is a steep leveling curve, players will optimize the hell out of their classes in order to clear that curve as quickly as possible.

The problem in this game is that FATES are awful as far as any for of strategy goes. There is no need to do anything except spam whatever isn't on cooldown.

IMO Fates should give gil/seals/gear but no XP or such a low amount of XP its not worth using to level a class.

kristerrr86 bring up a good point. Leveling just for the cross class skill.

I think the cross class skills are not designed so well. Crucial skills like that should not be made cross class; that's just forcing people to level classes they were never interested in. Maybe all these "cross-class" skills should instead be independently learnt by doing a "skill quest" that is available to designated classes. So by level 22, GLA and MRD players will see a question mark pop up on their trainer to tell them there's this mystical skill called Provoke that can do blah blah blah. Same for swiftcast.

Cross-class abilities should be small things that modify the style you play your original class, not things that you simply need to have.

For example allow GLA to cross class Overpower, which will replace Flash and give GLAs a new skill that has the same area of effect as Flash, but does damage like Overpower while retaining the Blind trait. Let MAR cross class Flash that will modify Overpower to do no damage but add blind or whatever effect.

I think that would make for a much more interesting cross class system, even to the point that we may switch and change our cross class skills based on what we feel like for the day, instead of the set-and-forget system we have now.

We pay 15 dollars a month to play how we want too. its your job to carry us no matter how bad we perform our job. Y U MAD BRO?
Welcome to insert X random players from Y random servers and putting them into Z random content. YOU GOTTA DEAL WIT IT! YO!

i am just kidding... but hey this is what we get stuck with when being bad does not have a negative consequence other than being put back into the LFG/DF ques... it's not like if you screw up and die you could delevel... or have to run back to your corpse on the other side of the world naked and in the dark... if you want to play a game they designed around the common Derp... you have to deal with... Herps of Derps
