As much as I loved and miss the game. The direction SE took it just kills it for me. It is not the same game that I once played 40hrs a week for nearly 8yrs strait.

The games population is too low and they killed off the soul of the game. I would consider it only if they remove the last expansion and all abysea and rolled the servers back to 75 cap, obviously not going to happen.

I find it terrifying that people are 10 years older now, and yet do not see themselves needing to spend the next 10 years on anything but a grindfest MMO.

Throwing away your youth is fine, but you are starting to plan to throw away your whole life.

I would be interested if FFXI were the same game I played years ago but sadly it isn't anymore. I went back once I think after the treasures expansion not sure if it was the most current, anyways I figured I would try to play Thief my favorite class back when I originally quit the game only to find out parties had changed. No one was doing skillchains and magic bursting like they used too, which kind of made Thief lackluster to me since they only truly shined in parties. This was a huge change which kind of ruined leveling for me, I mean what everyone now just spams weaponskills when they have enough TP? Seriously a skillchain + magic burst was too much work for people?

Also I hear the abysea expansion crapped on the players anyways, making the upgraded relic weapons and such that took years to acquire and unlock basically super easy to get. I never thought they would do something like raise the level cap and treat there own player base that way after they supported the game for all those years. It seems I was wrong. No I won't be going back to FFXI because it just isn't the same game and I likely won't come back to FFXIV because I don't like the direction of the game which shows no signs of changing for the better.

Hate to break it to you but everyone can be considered throwing away their lives depending on how you look at it. Unless you do something to change the world your only going to be another piece of the puzzle in the grand scheme of things. You will eventually grow old and die. How you choose to spend your life is your decision. If you think having children and a family is important that is your choice but as the current state of the world is heading towards eventually over population I would say it's not like we need everyone having babies for fear of the human race dieing out.

Is your argument that the vast majority of people who most of which will live mediocre lives are better wasted elsewhere? Please do share what people should be doing with their time.

Never played or tried post 75 cap.

It's kinda cool job. To boot, it's the only job that has highest rating on GS & parry, both A+. And I capped it all. ^^

It also makes old content kinda amusing. Remember campaign battle in crystal war era (Wing of the Goddess content)? This is now that happened:



Those beastmen hit like a baby to me. So easy tanking them all, used to be impossible to do more than 3-4 beastmen. lol

Anyways, I have resubbed about several weeks ago, precisely a week before last login campaign ended, just to nab that limited time only: Lion's cipher for Trust. ^^

Currently I'm working on my PLD. Capped it, only left with skilling and maybe start working for my Ochain.

If they released it on PSN I might give it another try. But as I don't have a system the game can run on, it's unlikely I'll ever play again.

If anyone is interested, I am on Asura - but might server change depending on the circumstances. Bahamut looks like the most active server now. I am not really concerned about the population of the game that much, it would just be really cool to get a small linkshell together who is interested in rekindling old experiences. I will continue to play XIV, but slowly... at least until they make some adjustments and/or new content.

Anyways - to those who are interested - i'm on Asura, my character is Morcheeba. Looking forward to trying out the Trust system and getting all the gear/fighting NMs I never got to fight! I don't mind if it's a time sink because its a very comfortable, fun time sink for me

The irony of this post is these kind of MMORPGs are gear grind fests grinding the same dungeons numerous times - you don't find that terrifying either? or that MMOs of this type usually fail within their first year?
